what pressure in E/T's?

I would like to know what air pressure the rest of you run in
your E/T's.
I have been experimenting and it seems that at 12 to 12.5
pounds that mine work the best.
I have also learned that the information that is spread across
this board is very vital and correct.
I have been spinning the **** out of my E/T's before pulling to
the line, and mostly in drive. Well I took someones advise from
this form, and yesterday I pulled through the water, spun them
for 5 to 7 seconds in LOW, and what a difference. All of my 60'
times were in the low 1.90's for a change. They were always in
the 2.010 range before. Thanks.....
In regards to my original question on air pressure, yesterday
at 12.0 pounds of air, when I left the line at around 1500 RPM
all I heard was one big "CHIRP", and away we would go.
Anyone else run them this low?
My truck is fully dressed, except for the hitch which I removed.

Most folks at FFW were running 18 or so lbs
Lower than that and the big end gets squirrly

This wierd?

Marc: I couldn't make mine 'smoke' Fri and I used only first gear--and you get great burnouts in first? Sal posted that we should use 'drive' not first and let it downshift on its own as it pulls out of the burnout. He said first gave lots(too many) of eng. rpms but not enough tire rpms.

I've been using 16psi(cold) but Sal reminded me that I need to check them 'hot', just before running each time. (Btw, this is my interpretation of what Sal said--if it's wrong or confusing, I hope he will clarify any misstatements I may have made.) 16psi seemed to give a full pattern of 'wear' across the tread face.

Hi Shawn,
First question yes, I ran a 12.96 at 104.6 on my 2nd qualifying
run at Quaker City!!! Hard to believe , but the track and the
air were beautiful.....
I had 3 other passes at 13.01 and some change, all at or around
104 mph, so that tells me the truck is consistent.
My only problem was in eliminations. I ran down an SS396 Chevelle that had dialed in at 14.01 on my first run with a
13.01 at 104.something, and then on my next run i had to chase one of the 17.11 second 65 mph a holes who I always end up with. I really shouldn't bitch as I ran a 12.99 at 103. something
and only lost by .002, but i had a .858 light......Hard to win that
way.
Call me tomorrow at 216-587-7872 between 6 and 2:30 I want
to talk to you about this weekend.

I ran Sat at Quaker, only got 1 run in the 1/4, they shut down due to the HUGE cross wind so we could only run the 1/8. one of the rail cars almost ran off the track at the top end due to the wind!! I'll give you a call tomorrow.

I always run mine about 12psi also. The big end does get crazy sometimes though.

I know allot of people that run around 18psi, but when I try that I spin my tires and get chitty 60 foot's, even with my sway bar off.

So I'll take my chances.

I have not removed anything, although the sway bar thing
sounds interesting. Everyone I talk to claims that they pick
up a tenth by doing so.
Running at 12 lbs. has not effected my handling at top end yet.
I have a couple of pictures that a photographer at one of the
other tracks took and the truck is really impressive looking coming
off the line. You could almost put a dollar bill under the left front
tire.
One of the die repairman here at work has an 8 second dragster
and we always watch each other run when were both at the track.
He told me yesterday that the truck really looked good, and that
the whine from the blower was drowning out cars in the other
lanes exhaust each time I ran.
Of all the muscle cars I have owned in my 50 years, this truck has
got to be the most enjoyable. Hell, its even fun to drive just tooling down the freeway.
