Thumbs up My Rookie Friends 1st day at the track!

I talked one of my friends Willis into a new 01 about a month ago and he decided to take it to the track today to see what it could do and i am still amazed at his times considering how few mods he has on his 01!

60ft. 1.73

1/8 8.00

1/4 12.57

His only mods are:

PSP Pulley
Chip
K/N Filter
Drag Radials

Very impressive times for 1st time out ever to any track!

Wink

And to make his first run even more impressive, this was done with hitch and sway bar in place. Mid michigan motorplex rocks.

That is VERY impressive. I need some drag radials - which ones
was he running?

Where do I get them and how much would some ET Streets w/corresponding wheels cost?

Thanks for any help
Jacob

Jacob,
We were trying different tire combinations on his truck today and the BFG Drag Radial 255 50 16 was what gave him the 1.73 60ft. time and he did back it up several times!

Great times. Track prep must have been awesome. Usually the BFG D/R don't hook that well. Did you (HighRoller) run your M/T's?

Man, a 1.73 and a 12.57 on his FIRST time at the track! What has he got to look forward to? I hope he does a Dynojet run with those same mods--would be interesting. How many miles on his L? I know I'm envious of these numbers as I haven't been able to get into the 12s(much less, the mid-12s) yet so I have a bias but I'm skeptical about them. A 13.57 with those mods would be easily believable but 1 12.57???

I hope you will allow/forgive my skepticism High Roller as I have respected your posts and info in the past but more info is needed. Where did this take place, altitude, temp, 1/4 mile speed, etc. Not flaming--but dang it man..a 12.57 and a 1.73?

Dan,
There was 2 other L's there one of them was ib fast on this board who replied earlier. This took place at Mid-Michigan Motorplex in Stanton,Mi. and the altitude there is 700ft. and the temperature was around 50 degrees. This also was done with hitch and sway bar still on and no bags of ice to help cool and backed his 12.57 with a 12.58 hot lap.The cool weather obviously helped a few tenths toward his time as is everyone elses times on this board are dropping to because of the cooler weather!

We had 24 pounds of air in the drag radials,i have never been on a track that sticked as good as this one did that day.My other friend Jeff was running 1.82 60ft.s on f1's at full weight and stock convertor!

Cool

LIGHTNINGROD, why do you think matt drives from indiana to michigan amost three hours? Because mid michigan motorplex is the chit.I have ran 12.79 in my 00 with just a chip ,pro m and et streets in 80 degrees at this track. I was at the line watching matt explain to willis how to launch his new 01.His first attempt he drove right through the timing lights, had to back up and lost boost on launch.I unplugged his boost and he proceeded to run mid 12's on his first run with boost. The temps was in the 40,s to around 50 all day. On the svt perfomance.com board there was a post a while back about an L lifting the front wheels.I think if you look it up you will find that this track hooking was the reason for the front wheels getting air. This may be hard to beleive, but i was there....it did happen.

Ok guys......

I'm a believer! Thanks for the cool, civil replies. I'm so new at this(I've only been to one track--started back in June.) and my launches and 60' times still pretty-much suck. We still haven't seen any cooler temps than mid-60s.
