Looking at purchasing a used 99 L from local dealer. Concerned about past history. Any tips to ensure positive experience?

Get the VIN and go to carfax.com--key it in(will cost $20(?)) and know whether it's been in a major wreck, leased, flooded, etc.

Thanks for the suggestion I will do that. The dealer has had it for at least 4 weeks as that is when I saw it in the paper. Current negotiations are for $22,300. Black L with 20700 miles. I can see no major repair areas. Just minor nicks and scratches. Front bumper cover has hit a tall curb at some time. Any other help?

 

They should be able to pull the Ford repair history for you. Oil changes, and intercooler replacement etc. If he got his oil changed at Walmart Ford wont know but they should be able to print a history of EVERY time it hit Ford for ANY work.

Thanks! Another great suggestion. I will definetly do this also. I love the truck, but being used means more affordable and more possible risk.

Any knowledge about intercooler problems with 99 L's? Read posts about being and issue.

 

With low intrest rates and xplan you might get a 01 for almost the payment!! Might pay to check Artie.
