Know a guy who just ordered a Z-06, will have it in February and will be looking for me next spring. That means I have all winter to prepare for him. What should I do?

Every bolt-on imaginable, plus a shot of nitrous....those cars are known to run low-12's from the factory, good luck.

Those are some fast times. But like I said I have all winter to make it respectable, and besides, don't think he'll be the worlds best launcher.

Catch him right after he gets the car The Z is definitely harder to launch than the L and he has to deal with the 6 speed.

 

I watched a z06 run at a not so good track this summer.This particular track has no boards so you get your slips from the concession stand lol.Never got to run him and he asked to not have his e/t announced. As near as i could figure he was running in the 13.0s-13.1s judging from his competition. Although capable of mid 12's,i bet you would have a lot of practice to get a zo6 in the mid 12's,let alone low 12's....not to mention a track that hooks exceptionally well.

If a 50k car cant outrun my 30k truck then somethings definately wrong...........if you're still set to race him just pray he dosent know how to drive that thing.....................good luck..............................

Ak.Silver2K: I agree with the others. If he can't drive, he's looking at low 13s. I know of several Zs that have ran 13s and have witnessed a few running high 13s. If it's really gonna bother you, just throw on some good mods. Remember, any car can be "modded" to outrun another car. Heck, I've seen a tubbed out Festiva(or something similiar looking) running high 11s at the track. Before it ran, I was wondering why it had huge slicks in the front.

 

Ak, you have been on this board a while. You know you can get that truck into the 12's with a chip, pulley, J/L air kit and ET streets. Pull off the hitch, spare, passenger seat and any other weight, 1/4 tank of gas and run the guy. He is going to need a great launch to hit the 12's. It should be a fun race. If you win GREAT! If not, he just beat a 4500 pickup truck. Now thats impresive for americas only true sports car! Its a no win situation for him and nothing but upside for you. Have FUN!

 

A Z06 is looking for you???Man,you drive a truck!Forget performance mods.Just put push bars on the front of your truck.Explain to him that if you catch him,you will take him out.Instead of hunting for you,he'll be dodging your insane azz,and praying he's way faster.

Find your advantages,and cash in on them.

Plan on doing all you mentioned, just don't want to do NOS. I was hoping (fishing) for word on higher boost blower. But I guess I have all winter for word on that to come out. Thanks for the replys guys.

Add a gunrack and a haybale with an open tailgate. Then weave into his lane...

 

Pick up a load of lumber (plywood, 2x4's, etc.) put them in the back and kick his a$$ while hauling a load of stuff from the Home Depot (or your local home improvement store).

BTW: make sure you put in the other mods too, this mod won't make your truck go faster but the taste in his mouth will be more bitter.

 

You can believe this or not, but its true and I have plenty of wittness's. I ran a Z06 at Mobile Int. Dragway 3 times in the same night. His best was 8.444 in the 1/8 and I had an 8.277 These are computer generated times because the track is only 600' but our 594' are correct at Z06 ran 7.851 and 75.89 mph My L ran 7.702 and 78.26 mph. He had to really deal with that 6 speed to get that good he said. With practice I'm sure he will catch me but until then.
