Fun Ford Sucks but I had a great time

I had a GREAT time meeting a bunch of people from the various internet sites. Fun putting a face with a name. The 5 JDM folks were all exceptionally freindly and helpfull.

Here are some more pictures. http://www.svtlightnings.com/svt/ffw10-01/ffw10-01.htm
I will be adding more over the next day or 2... Any one that has good pictures email em to me and Ill post em.

I was in the stands when Jim made the fatefull pass in his 01. I have seen the aftermath. And though I know it will be hard to believe for the JDM conspiracy theorists, I even helped push the truck onto the trailer.
Sean is foaming at the mouth to tear into the block to see what happened. I am sure we will get a full report in a few days.

Now if I had only run 9 hundreths faster .....

Doug

Question

He blew the 01. As reporters you guys are all a flop. Did Lightnings win in any of the classes they were entered in. I believe they could run in two classes.

I made it to the second round of Street Ford. then redlighted with .496 . There were other redlights as well. I think everyone was out of Top Truck first round

James won a trophy http://nloc.org/ubb/Forum18/HTML/000355.html

9 Gen IIs in Top Truck (gee, I wonder why?) the rest (probably 40+) in Quick Ford or Street Ford. OneRedTexasBolt (TALON) got 3rd in S/F on Saturday's program. The winner was a 4X4 Extended cab running in the 16s. All GenIIs out by the second round of T/T today. NLOC needs to seriously reconsider it's sponsorship of the Top Truck class next year IMHO.

I was in staging when Jim's truck blew at the traps (still ran an 12.36 I think) about 9PM Saturday. He was running Randy Morrison and the smoke was so bad, you couldn't see either truck's tail lights on the big end. Apparently, even Lightning motors have a pain threshold. Looked like Jim's truck was going to be hauled away on a trailer by a Dodge Dakota Sport. I couldn't bare to take a picture.

The attached F-100 was my first round opponent. I fouled trying to deep stage.

Sounds like they hate Ls to me. Why can't they have a coulple of classes for the Lightnings say 12-13.0 and a 13.0-14.0 or motor class and nitros class. Something for the L s and not 16 sec SUVs.

Thumbs up

I had a great time at FWW. Putiing faces to user names is always neat and I did alot of that this weekend. It was nice meeting and seeing all of you. The biggest highlight to me was having the JDM crew down here. We all had alot of fun and benifited from them greatly. I was really sorry to see Jims truck blow the way it did. It makes me appreciate Him all the more for pushing his truck to the limits for the Lightning community. Looks like the limit was found for the rods, but I'm sure we will get a full report once the motor is torn apart. Whats funny is that it didnt really seem to bother Jim a bit. I think I might have took it harder, kinda like seeing the King fall Anyway, like to see all of the Lightning camps getting along and having a good time. Sometimes these message boards dont display any class but its great that in person this is not the case. I'm looking foward to next year, but this year will always have a certain sweetness about it and be hard to beat. As far as the actually racing goes........it did kinda bite!!! (too many things to mention) Hope that part of it is better in the future.

Caka

Good to meet you ....

Stay tuned for Lightning only Track event. HALO and TALON are trying to work a deal for early next year. More details to follow

I agree when you meet lightning owners in person they are always mature and sensible.

Angry

Ennis SUCKED!!! It just made me want more mods. I need to get a raise or something. I thought I was happy with my Roush'ed '01. When I saw Jim lay down a high 11, I just knew I had to start my mod fund. Even the wife decided that the filter kits made the engines sound cool. I also got to hear a Bassani exhaust; and I must have one as well. I was impressed at how friendly and "open" the Lightning guys were compared to typical pony guys.

Talking Had a great time

Dad and I got home late last night from the long trip home. We both had a great time. It's was nice to be able to put some names to some faces (Highlander off the tip of my head). It was also nice to meet Jim and his crew from JDM. It was unfortunate that he blew three rods and put a number of holes in the block. As mentioned be for we set a new best time of 12.17 @ 111.5 and qualified 7th in the Top Truck class.

Dennis, your safe for now... At least untill we come up there again .

I also have attached a picture of Wyldman doing a burnout for round two of qualifying (though some may have seen it already).

Glad to hear most everyone had a great time--wish I cuold have been there too. Hope we learn something positive from Jim's misfortune.

I singled you out because you mentioned the Basanni exhaust 'sound'. Was it cat-back or full-monty(hehe)? I think I want their c/b but am afraid it will be too loud for a daily driver? I know that this is subjective, but could you detail your opinion of 'that Basanni' sound? Whose L was it?

Thanks, Dan

We had an awesome time in Texas.

We'll post details and pictures when we get back to the shop in N.J.
