Welp, post #1.
First off I can't say enough how impressed I am with this Lightning forum. Being the 19 year old college kid that I am, I've spent many late night hours in my beloved dorm room reading forum after forum. I'm not sure if it's the fact that many of you are older (not 'over the hill' older!) and more respectful, but I've never seen a group act like more of a family then you all do! It's been really enjoyable reading all your thoughts and opinions over the past month, and I finally decided I need to jump in the ring!
That said, DAD HELP ME PAY FOR A LIGHTNING!!! That's not too much to ask, is it?!? Geez. LOL. Ahh well, after weeks upon weeks of begging, I think I have convinced Dad. (Mom's another story.) Brighton Ford here in Michigan has 5 '01's on the lot, and they've been there for a looooooooong time. I'm thinking we might be able to weasel something pretty good out of them, but we'll have to wait and see. So to avoid putting Dad into shock, I need your best guess on a A Plan price, 60 months@2.9%. Please please please tell me below $500!!!
A big thank you to you all for sharing prices throughout various threads. Many have been printed and shown to dad! (Insurance was a big plus...but he's yet to see the gas mileage thread!) Ha ha. Alright, I've taken up enough of your time. I'll update ya as soon as I know more. Thanks much.

Hey, Im 18 in college also, have you seen what the insurace price will be. I was going to get a lightning but the insurace was outragious. So i will just wait on the L, but put a blower on my 4.6 when the warrenty runs out. Good Luck. You might be able to get 0.0% financing
Insurance is nothing compared to some other vehicles! My neighbor : 00 L, something like $900/year! Granted, he's much older than us but still...any somewhat sporty car is gonna cost that. Maybe check out some other companies.
Yea, you should be able to get it for at least 28,000 out the door and maybe a little cheeper if your lucky. Anyway @ 2.9% it would come out to be 501.88 a month. So anything you can put down on it or trade will help you out. Hope you get it.
I am 17 and have a 1999 lightning. Does pretty good on gas as long as the supercharger doesn't kick in (but who can resist that?). My insurance is about $1,100.00 every 6 months with a perfect driving record. so it is not too bad.
I was just @ brighton ford. They said 0% for 60 months. I am just kepping my 99. They will take the x plan. they said $28700, A-plan is like 4% less then x-plan i think.

I just turned 19 today and got my new lightning today also!! It was kinda like a birthday present for myself that i payed for. I got A-plan, so $27,683 + tax. 2.9% financing for 60 months. I put 10g's down, so payment is $349/ month. Insurance with 2 tickets is $194/ month.
I'm 19 and also am I college student down at a junior college in California. I bought my Lightning on July 2nd just during the 4th of July sales event at the local Ford Dealership (Ken Groady Ford) in Buena Park. Anywho I got them down to about 27,500 after tax and license around 30, The hard part is getting use to the no back seats for those....special occasions :T and also filling up for gas every 4 days LOL. But it pays off with the looks and the heads that turn looking to see "WHAT WAS THAT?!" that had just whined by them. I still get complements on the truck everywhere I go from people that know what they can do. The thing that will hurt you, if you have a driving record like me (plenty of speeding tickets) then you'll end up paying about 1,900 to 2,100 every 6 months
. That would be the only downside to these beasts!
Good Luck and Good Hunting hope to see you in one some time

From a "not over the hill older"........
Thanks for the complement(s). Very mature post for a 'youngster'. You sound like a good addition to the 'family'. Hope you get your wish fulfilled---soon.
One teeny complaint---did you mean to mix caps in your 'name'---why?

Thanks for the kind words! The caps in the name thing is something I've done for a while now. The girls think it's 'cute' or something. I don't know. LOL. Let's just say it's for 'sporty looks,' just like the L would give me!
So heres a good question I think...does it kinda tick you older fella's off that us teenagers are getting these $30,000 trucks? My dads is certainly whining about that, yet I don't know how to explain to him the passion I have for cars, especially Lightning's now. Yes, debt and I are going to be looking each other in the face! Oh well. LOL.
