A kill and a scare
On my way home from work Monday I saw a 01 Vett. pulling on the 2 lane highway I was on. He pulled in behind me and waited until we got out of town. When we were clear of traffic (@ around 60 mph) I took off a pulled his A$$, not bad, but he was losing ground to me. At around 120 mph all hell broke loose. I heard a terrible banging on the roof of the truck. I pulled over and the Vett went sailing by. When I got out the top windshield gasket had come out and was hammering my truck. Boy, what a relief. Yesterday after getting this fixed I was on the same road and I got stopped for speeding. I only got a warning. How about that for luck.
Sweet kill. As far as getting off with the ticket, Its both our luck this week because I got our of a 115 in a 70 yesterday. I guess he liked the Marines sticker on the back window!!! He just wrote 84 in a 70 and let me off with a warning ticket. Very cool state trooper. I guess they will get a generous donation this year
Jerry,
LOL..I also had that happen with the winshield gasket. At speeds over the national limit
the sound is quite scary.
What I did was use a little dab of silicone in the center of the gasket to hold it in place. Its been over a year, and so far so good.

Ditto on the windshield gasket. I replace it regularly... just stuff it back in.
I guess it's time to get some blackr RTV.

I took mine by the dealer (Dreager Ford in Georgetown) and the body shop manager told me to take it to a local glass company and tell them to put it on his bill. Now I have 42,000 miles on the L and this guy says "don't worry about ti, it should never have happened". How about that for service? Now if the service dept. at Dreager could just learn how to take care of customers that way! The guy at the glass company said the gasket was not properly installed at the factory. He just glued it in and did not think i would have any more problems.
Also I got out of a real ticket because as soon as I saw the trouper turn his lights on I was pulled over in 100 yards. I learned a few things about what these guys (Cops) like and don't like living, with one (my father was a state trouper for 33 years) for twenty years.
1. Don't make them chase you. It puts them in danger.
2. Don't make up some lie about why you were speeding. Just say you had your head up your ***.
This has worked well for me. My last ticket was in 1990. 55 in a 35.

Besides beign straight with them and not BSing them. A PBA card from a county cop that says family memeber on it helps out to hehe. I dont get why people argue with cops you arent gonna win. Like my one friend who is a cop in my town who is as close as a real life Tackleberry from police academy that you can get. Gave this one kid 13 tickets at once for mouthing off. He gave it to him for his tints, strobes, lowered, tint in the front window, something hanging from the rear view mirror and lots more. Ill guess he wont mouth off to a cop again hehe.

Jerry:
You left out some:
1. Keep your 'hands' in plain view--on the steering wheel.
2. If you can identify his 'rank', address him that way.
3. Signal your intentions(pulling off thr h'wy) and acknowledge you see him with a lifted hand.
4. Try and pick a spot when pulling over that will give him room without endangering either of you or the vehicles.
I'm sure there are other 'things to do' but these should help you/me to start out on an even tone when we're stopped.

...and NEVER call a TROOPER officer, they dont like that, especially in NJ. Trust me...over the years with the family restaurants, you get to know what they do and do not like.
If I know I am going to get pull over, I dont even hesitate, I pull over right away and wait for them without hassle, and before they have time to turn their lights on.

If it's night time, turn on your interior light and have your hands on top of the steering wheel where they can be seen. Cops HATE doing traffic stops by themselves at night (I know form personal experience.). Anything that makes him or her more at ease DEFINITELY goes in your favor. You may still get a ticket, but one for $50 sure beats $150.
I used a 3M product to get the trim back on 'permanently':
