To be honest with you....I have the factory ford alarm with the upgraded siren and shock sensors and I LOVE it!!!! It was only $200 more and I haven't had any problems with it.

I had a Viper system on my Toyota and that thing sucked. Sometimes it would work and when the siren worked the sensors didn't.

I have always used Viper 550's and have never had a problem with any of them. DEI makes a few models and the Viper is the best. I have one in my Mustang now. If you get the alarm you may as well go for the autostart also. I'm putting one in my wifes Grand Cherokee next week.

I don't know if it is the best, But I went with the Viper 550ESP.

I like it and so far it has not givin me any problems. I also went with it because of the remote start since this is my every day driver and I have to drive it in the winter. Sure is nice coming out to a warm truck.

"Danger Asbestos" Stickers!

No the viper's are good alarms and they do have there probelms but its mostly due to the installer error.

If you want a killer system then get the alpine alarm system. You can set it up with the stereo to send out a page if anybody touches your truck and it will ring on the key chain part you carry.

factory alarm, factory remote entry, alpine pager with a shock sensor and a pressure sensor for triggers, and a mercury switch on the tail gate and cover for cargo security, haa yes and also a 9 and a tire iron close by when the thing goes beep beep in the middle of the night...

Cool

I have had a Viper alarm in my truck since 1995 and the only trouble I ever experienced is a dead battery on the remote.
I use the door lock/unlock feature always when entering the cab, and I like the feature that lets me arm the truck in silent mode, unlike my wifes noisy Apline alarm.
Viper also has has a feature the disarms your truck to a different code each time you use it, so nobody can steal your remote code and use it to take your truck.
Make sure you have a good installer though, thats the most important part.

another cool module i got, forgot about this one i have never had to use it, luckly...it is the command module costs 150 for module and 65 a year for service, will unlock the doors, start car, honk horn if ya forget where ya park and if someone decides they like the truck more than u can disable from a run and beep horn all from a phone call to a radius of three states...

so far only had to use the start feature, from three states away it was warm by the time i got to it.....

That's what VIPER's CAR COM is..................

I'm able to start my car via phone, unlock the doors etc. etc. etc.

However, these are control modules and not remote start modules.

You must have a remote start w/ keyless entry in order for these modules to work.

Thx everyone, viper alarm systems seem to be the best one. Lots of options and lots of happy customers. Also I have concluded that I need to get someone that knows what they are doing to install it.
