Question Trouble shooting: Head Lights

On this certain vehicle, there are seperate bulbs for the low and high beams. The stock bulbs have been replaced with halogens. A low beam bulb went out, and I put the stock one back in, the stock one worked, what a surprise... I put the halogen back in and it worked!, then i flicked to high beams and back to low beams, and they low beam light didnt work anymore. The connection is tight and clean. What could cause a problem like this, or should I go spend 50 bucks on new halogen bulbs? Sorry to take space up on the board but you guys are the BEST! and respond so fast to everything. I hope this does not too much.

Are the contacts on the bulb corroded?

Might try a little grease or petroleum jelly on the contacts.

DO NOT GET ANY ON THE BULB, this makes for short bulb life! If you do get some grease or even touch the bulb wipe it with alcohol to clean.

Check and see that the halogen did not blow when it came back on, maybe the sudden power to it caused it to blow. If it did, get a new bulb or go back with stock until you can get a new halogen.
Just my thought.
