Have you ever noticed when you get out of your truck that it has a potent little static electric (dis)charge? I kind of let it slide til this morning when it caught me on the cheek.
Or am I alone in this weird little torture?
Or, maybe, they're just little bolts of Lightning...

YEEEOUCH!
Been zapped so bad the past week, my hand actually was in pain for a minute or two afterwards!
...little tip: Try holding on to the metal part of the door until after you're out of the seat... you won't get a shock

trabuco,
I also have a 96 ranger splash and every time (for 6 years) I get out of the truck it happens to me. It also happens to any passengers that get out. I just have learned to live with it, and it hasn't happened to me yet in my L.
Also what kind of drop did you do to your L,
And what kind of cover is out back, I like it with no wing!!!!

not that i'm a lightweight, but,, how many sq yds of cordeuroy are you people dragging across the seats on exit, that you have lighting bolts flying from your body?
ps: i heard William Wallace could do that "at will"

I always had that happen to me way back when I had my ranger, then when I got my f150 4x4. And when I got the L it shocked me also. Though I haven't noticed it that much or bad at all since I put on the wet okole seat covers.
MaxPower was right on the money,

try that, what you are doing is getting out of your truck and stepping onto the ground. (you are now standing outside your truck but the door is still open right?) next you reach for the door and receive your shock, right? So instead, try holding onto the door as you exit. you shouldn't even have to hold onto metal I don't believe. Just open your door and while you are swinging it open keep your hand on the armrest. once the door is opened, step outside, all the while keeping your hand on the door until your feet are on the ground. you should now be able to step out of the way and grab the door and swing it closed without getting shocked.
this way you should transfer any static electricity that you or your truck may have stored to the ground without the sudden "shock".
If this doesn't work, try it like MaxPower said, open your door and while sitting in the seat, grab a metal part of the door, then while holding it, step out and swing the door shut.
good luck. don't electricute yourself

Soap, you gave me the solution. I just let the passenger out first and they can take the damned ZAP. My wife could use a little charge...
Soap, the lid is a Snuglid.
