Difference between 99 and 01 shifting

I just purchased a 2001 L on Sat. 9/29 that replaced my 99. Last night I installed the Level 10 shift kit and JL 12' Powerstack filter. What I noticed was without a chip it shifts a little tighter than the 99 did without a chip. Can anyone tell me if the trans internals were changed for 01 or did they change the programming?

The only differencbetween a 99 and an 01 is the materail that the intermediate friction plates are made of, it's a higher temp plate, I think, but other than that they're identical (if you have a 5X, the J1s have a mechanical diode on the direct clutch instead of a sprag)
