ABS Failure

I have been noticing recently that my ABS light will come on from time to time. Lately it has been comming on alot and now it is on almost all the time. At first I thought that this was just a problem with he light, but I gave the breaks a good hard slam and sure enough the ABS are not working. My problem now is that my breaks are squealing like little pigs because of all the strain from short stops etc... Do you think that the warranty should cover the break pads, rotors and any other parts that were damaged by the ABS failure? I personally think they should!!!

We have a supercrew that one of our guys drive for work and it was makeing a wierd squeaking noise and we took it in and the dealer said that it was the brake and that it would not be covered under the warrenty.

Now I totally agree with you on this one. If its the pads or rotors that are cause the problem, then I can se ford not covering that. Drive conditions play a big part on it, but for something like the ABS system not working properly, I would hope that ford would cover that under a warrenty claim. Its not like your using your ABS system all the time on your truck and how can that brake from using it, Its a safety device so it should be very reliable. You would think anyway. I've only had to use my ABS twice since I'v had my truck.
Snow sucks with bald tires.

why didn't you take it to the dealership when the light started coming on?

the abs failure did not cause your brakes to squeek, that is rediculous, you just want ford to pay for your squeeky brakes, which they will do by the way, without you making up silly reasons.

anyway what strain from short stops are you talking about? you mean that you stop your truck in a differend manner when your abs light is on? take it in for repairs like you should have done in the first place. I'm sure that there is nothing wrong with the rotors, but you may get new pads if they are squeeking, howevever this still has nothing to do with your abs, and of course they'll fix whatever is wrong with your abs.

It dosen't take alot at all to lock these breaks up with out the ABS. Now something that would be considered a normal break a little on the hard side but not enough to make stuff fly will lock em up. I would have brought it in sooner, but it was not very consistant and I though it was just a temp thing??? ??? Dont really feel like taking all my mods off every other week when this beast breaks down.

sorry for the snappy reply, went to Hooters for lunch maybe had one too many . j/k, but anyway, technically Brake Pads are considered a wear item as far as warranty is concerned. HOWEVER, squeeling does not neccessarily indicate that your brake pads are worn out, in that event, if the noise is abnormal or excessive, then Ford WILL PAY FOR NEW PADS. If your pads are just slam worn out and squeeking, then you are S.O.L. wear item, but if they still have good pad life left and aren't near the squeal tabs then you should be covered. Rotors are also covered against warpage unless you let your pads run down to the backing plates and gouge your rotors, then again, your own fault, S.O.L. for not keeping an eye on your pads which are again considered a normal wear item. Your ABS system obviously is covered without exception until 3years/36,000miles. The light is on to let you know that the system has self tested itself and found a fault, take it in for a proper diagnosis. Good luck.
