Ruslow - how do you do it?

That panhard bar is so cool. I installed it this weekend.

First installation was easy, the hardest part was drilling the hole in the exact spot. Lifting the bed was no problem, loosened the 3 left bolts and remove the 3 right bolts. Then get a piece of wood and jack up the rights side a couple inches and be carefull not to damage anything, and you have plenty of room for the top bolt. I read that on a thread somewhere, forgot who it was, but whoever it was that was a great tip!

Next driving - I have noticed that everytime I do a mod it's raining so I never get to test it out on the first day. But driving around at city speeds there is a noticable difference. The truck feels that where ver the front tires hook up and go the rest follows. You feel like no shifting from the rear. It's definately worth it.

Question - those who have it, do you take out the bar itself for the dragstrip? Will it affect hard launches on the street at all?

Thanks again Stan, that bar is great.

Peter

That tip on installation just helped me decide to get the panhard bar.

A panhard bar should help at the strip, especially if using a PSP or JDM type traction bar device. That would be basically a ladder bar rear suspension, except for the housing floaters that allow a true ladder bar setup not to bind. To solve that, just remove the leafs alltogether and add a coil spring setup

Andy - taking the bed off or not, the bar is totally worth it.

Spike - thanks, I didn't have to use a cherry picker though. I put my jack under the truck and a 2x4 to reach the bed from the jack, jacked it up about 3" and got the bolt in no problem. Your instructions were great though, I'm just happy I didn't have to remove the whole bed. But I will say this, if I was bigger I probably would have to, I'm only 5'4" so I fit anywhere I need to, but after I lowered the rear that was a tight fit under that truck.

rscoleman - that might be to invloved and pricey, so what your saying is put in a panhard bar, then traction bars, remove the leaf springs, and then replace the shocks with coil overs springs? or find a new place for to mount them?

Question

Can not tell you for sure if it will help in launching but it won't hurt.Just make sure that the bar is level after the install, otherwise you will get into a rear steer situation.
As for how we did, I moved up to the 140 group and took 8 out of 14 in the first one.Would of won but we reversed the time that we came across the one finish line and compensated the wrong way,oh well still had fun.The SilverState I ran bymayself because of the WTC and could not get the other nav out to help me with it.It is kinda hard to look at a countdown timer road markers and my max speed PLUS the road at the same time so I was almost averaged141.Which put me in the middle of the pack again. But I was also the only one in that group without a nav soI feel better about that. Thanks for asking Stan
Next yr 160 class!!!! getting ready to build the fuel cell now,or by around the first of the yr.That is the only thing that is keeping me from running UNLIMITED.Other than there is not enough motor to do it yet but am working on that end too.

Would that work?

Sounds like a good idea. Who's gonna try it first?

RTKILLA - did you get your bar yet?

Captain,
How long did it take u to do the install? Ill probably end up pulling the bed off during the winter anyway to do the suspension and battery relocation .
Anyone have any ideas what to do w/the battery, I would like to do 2 gel cells but still keeping the spare where it belongs!!!???
Stan I am still interested in those sliders and pan hard bar, what else is on the market to keep the beast on the ROAD!!
Thanks
Smok'n L

Smokin only took about an hour to install the bar, thats only because the hole you have to drill I was a little off and to file the hole a little bigger. It's definately worth it.

As far as batteries I think it was R/T who put batteries under the bed, I remember seeing a pic someone. It looked like a very nice job.
