U.S. Gran Prix
Well, I attended my first F1 race yesterday in Indy, and all I have to say is WOW! Those cars sound like nothing I have ever heard, and the way they actually accelerate hard throughout most of the corners is unreal. I am sure I will get flamed for this, but I have watched NASCAR races but they don't even compare to this. I don't think NASCAR drivers could react quick enough to drive anything like F1. Anyone else on here go?
Grand Parade is more like it.
NASCAR has more passing in a Lap than F1 has in a season.
I enjoy F1, CART, IRL and NASCAR, but there is no way to compare the "follow the leader until he pits or blows up" action of FI to real racing in NASCAR.
Robin Miller of ESPN had the best line, try to explain the upcoming CART race in Rockingham, England, to local by calling it "just like F1, only with passing"
Compare the action in the CART race in England to F1 in US, 2 passes for the lead in the last two laps.
Mika only won because Rubens engine expired.

Snake I was there to yesterday!!!!!!!!
Guys don't knock it until you see it for yourself in person.
Those cars are just so awesome.
They don't even sound like a car when there flying past you. The acceleration and deceleration is just unreal. Now I know why some of you guys road race your L's. I think I might have found another new hobby.
And the standing starts are cool as hell too!
I can't wait until next years races.
Snake: How did you like the F1 girls in the black dresses. They don't have that chit at any WFC!

I knew I would like it but I had no idea it would be that cool! I was sitting in North Vista, what about you? Those F1 girls were nice. I noticed a lot different type of fan at F1, very well behaved and no fighting about who's driver was the best. A guy in my hometown got shot over an argument about a Jeff Gordon hat for god's sake, what a joke. If you all have the chance to go I would highly reccomend it, it is the only one of it's kind held in the US. Anything that has 1000 HP and barely weighs 2500 pounds has some sweet acceleration! I heard they can go from 0-100-0 in 7.4 seconds, beat that NASCAR!!!! Just kidding, I like NASCAR too!
Snake,
You bet your *** we
were there! F1 ROCKS
Slight correction however. They weigh closer to 1800 lbs and have 800 hp.
18000 rpms and the ability to shave 100 mph off their speed in little over 150 feet prior to entering turn 1.....nuff said!!!
NASCAR, Different animals altogether.
As for Robin Miller (fired from the Indianapolis Star and all around idiot), his views are pretty much along the lines of "if it ain't CART and I can SLAM Tony George in the process, it's newsworthy. F--- HIM!!!
We sat in the Paddock just north of the podium on the outside of the track.

AHHHH but your both wrong according to the guys that we went there with. I'm not sure if there the real experts but these guys live eat and breath F1 cars.
0 to 100mph in 3 seconds.
doing well over 200MPH in the main strait away.
And the wieght is supposed to be around 1300lbs
I'm not sure what he said the HP figures where, but I know he said that there only right around 15000 RPM's, and all the engine makers are saying that they are looking to spin these motors at 20,000 rpms in the next 3 to 4 years.
Everything in the car is supposed to be mostly titanium, and carbon fiber. some aluminum also.
last year the fastest time Shumacher did on the Indy track was a 1 minute and 14 seconds. This year he qualified with a 1minute and 11 second time. that might not seem like much but it adds up.
I believe it!! I was about 300 feet down from the starting line so I saw these guys takeing off out of the pits and flying down the main strait away. Absolutley sick!
If I had to pick what I would rather watch in person at the track. I telling you guys I would rather watch F1 over Nascar anyday. The rules are the same for everyone, nomatter what there name is. There's a feeling you get when that car flys around those corners and then jams on the next straitaway and does it over and over again.
But still the best sound in the would is a TOP FUEL dragster ripping off a 4 second 1/4 mile. Then again its a total different kind of sound all together.
Sanke: I was in shock with all the girls around at these events. And they weren't white trash hillbilly's either. Some, but very very very little. Most where those exotic type of girls like in the movie Driven.

RT they are "Pit Bimbettes". F-1 has the best, Cart is ok, NASCAR they have most of their teeth.
For those that have never roadraced. That rush you get from running down the 1/4 mile, imagine being able to extend that feeling for 20 min, 30min, 60min, or hours depending on the event. In some ways the 1/4 to me is a little diappointing. I get keyed up for the rush and it is over all to soon. I have run both 12 and 24 hour enduro events. Get in the car dog tired and as soon as you tighten the belts you are wide awake ready to run. 2 hours later they have to drag me out of the car because I want to keep driving. You guys need to try the twisties. Try a good driving school. You will love it.

The cars (and the chicks) are impressive, however it is still a parade. Good Racing is not about follow the leader in a series that only 3 teams have a chance of winning.
Again, I like F1, and watch it anytime it is shown, but 9 time out of 10 you can catch the start, and final lap, and never miss a pass in between. Years ago it was much better, the cars were more in the driver's control, now it has been handed over to computers.
Launch Control, Traction Control, Paddle shifting.
Want to talk about impressive numbers, talk Top Fuel.

You cannot compare F1 to ANY form of racing.
Top Nascar team = $12,000,000.00
Top F1 team = $300,000,000.00 - Ferrari
Minardi F1 Team = $60,000,000.00
M.Schumacher gets paid more than Hendrix spends on his team PER YEAR!
I have NO experience in Nascar other than watching, I do have experience in F1, F3000, F3. Its nice to finally have a track where a F1 car can show the USA what it can really do. Watching an F1 car go thru a HIGH speed corner is an incredible sight.
This years HP king is BMW and it is reported to have at least 860hp
and turn 19000rpm in qualifying. The Jaguar Cosworth (The Checkbook says Ford) is the lightweight king @ ~ 280 lbs
RTKILLA, you were asking what to do with the L's engine over the winter for $10million you can lease Ferraris year old F1 engines
Thats for a TWO car team, I will volunteer My Silver L for the other engine

It was fun
I had more fun this year, although my Rental RV almost killed (CO) me, but that is another story.
I hate the Traction Control, it killed the sound of the engines.
I saw Jenson Button at Jillian in Downtown Indy, he was in front of us waiting to get on the list for a table. My friend spoke to him. No one else noticed him. (Michael Schumacher like to vacation in the US, because nobody know who he even is, the most famous and highest paid driver in the world)
Eddie scored some points (I think he is a top 6 driver.), which he needs. Mika almost sound human after winning, for once.
