Question Does nitrous hurt truck?

I am thinking of getting a truck that had nitrous on it. Is there any serirus or long term side effects of using it? I want this truck to last me at least 3 years.

Lots a variables to consider. How big a shot? Did he have a chip tuned for it? How much has been run through it? Is he running the proper plug? Wet or dry system? Do you know the history of the truck (owner).

You might be fine and have no problems at all or you may end up with problems. Just depends on proper tuning and use.

He has a jdm nitrous program. Biggest shot is 125. Says he used nitrous less than 15 times.

He seems like he takes good care of the truck. What should I have a mechanic look at before i buy it that will tell me if it is messed up or not?

Jeff S has a funny story about NOS and reliability. Maybe he'll post it.

LOL..NOPE, not mine.

$truck,
Unless you know the complete background, I would stay away. In fact...why not take that truck to the track and see what she'll run. If there was any problems with it, thats when you would find out.

Spiro, I dunno if the owner would let me drive it all the way to a track to test her out. Would there be any clues to it being messed up without taking it to a track? What would be messed up with the engine that I could have a mechanic look at? Thanks for the help so far tho.

If I were you, I would insist on a trip to the strip!

The owner should have no problems with that, unless there is something to hide. IMO, the best way to know if the truck is hurt, is by beating on it.

Have your mechanic pull the plugs and look at them 1st, then drop a scope down into each cylinder to look at pistons 2nd, then do a compression check on all cylinders 3rd. None of which will be an easy task, but worth the $$ if you really want to know if the truck is hurt.
Otherwise, buy a different Lightning.

Struck,
Cost will vary depending on how well you know your mechanic. And of course those tests could be done at home yourself.
