miles per gallon

Just wondering how many miles everyone getting out of a full tank of gas? I run 93 octane in her and I only getting about 300 sometimes a lot less, I like to reunite the back of the pedal and the floorboard......hey they are good friends.

Thanks in advance,
tom

The "low fuel" light comes on at 270 and I start puckering around 290 if no gas is in sight because she's pointing directly at "E". Last fill-up got me 13.9 mpg, but it was cooler here and I didn't run the air all week.

The most I have ever went was on a trip, I put 370 miles when the fuel light came on. Around town I can put 330 if I want to and as little as 270 most of the time. But I didn't get this thing for good mileage or to see how long my tires will last. Come to think of it I didn't even buy this thing to haul a load in the back. Just wanted to have some FUN

i bought her to have fun, just as everyone else....that's why the pedal and the floor have become best friends. just making sure that i didn't have a problem with the miles per gallon. thanks all that responded.

Well...with ~2200 miles on my 01 have got 13.00 to 13.5 mpg
combined city / some highway....once it got up to a mindblowing
13.9 mpg...of course most every day let her "stretch" her legs....
I think it's capable of 14 to 15 mpg (same type driving) if I could
just leave that blower alone...so it is about 331 miles per 25 gal
tank....the blower whine is addicting and there are no blower
addiction rehab places in georgia...yet!

This is a proven test to certify if your are truly addicted and have the fatal "roots blower syndrome"...also termed "RBS" by professional counselors.

Can you honestly for 3 whole days (yes 3 whole days !) NOT get
boost ???....if you fall into this category you are ADDICTED and there is NO cure. NO CURE ! So accept your condition and simply
indulge yourself.

Cool Ahh reality!

It's refreshing to read posts, describing REAL fuel economy (or lack of) Some posts a while back on other board's were boasting of fuel mileage numbers upwards of 20 mpg. My truck has gotten no better than 16 mpg (with a bit of a tailwind w/constant 68 mph on longer road trips) and the average miles per gallon in my daily 105 mile daily commute is 13.9 Of course I knew the poor fuel economy was prevelent anyway's. Heck, the 96 F150 with a 302 we own does not do as well on fuel as my '01 lightning!

Raddred01,
Just as a comparison, I had a 2001 black Bullitt that got 17.5
to 18 mpg...same driving...a lot lighter vehicle...

When I first bought my 01 I was getting about 11.2 mpg with my 25 mi. daily commute. I had a set of dual flowmaster 40 series installed (poorly as it turned out) and went down to 10.5 mpg. I added a Diablosport chip (with Diablosport tuning not JL) and had a slight improvement to 10.8 mpg. I didn't really like the wet floppy sound of the Flowmasters; so, I traded them out for a Borla cat-back system and am now getting 12.7 mpg. All numbers with a PSP filter kit also installed.

I put around $20-30 every other day, and on weekends I usually fill er up at LEAST once. I dunno what it works out to, but I'm sure I will stop being lazy and figure it out someday.. still trying to figure out my diesel after oil change problem :P

I have gotten as high as 18 mpg driving very mellow all highway miles. I drive 30 miles each way to work, and average around 15-16 mpg, this too is all highway. When I drive it harder I get about 12 mpg.

Daily driver and 1/4 miler.........

I don't 'gauge' mpg by when the low-fuel light comes on. I think you have to fill the tank each to the same point--the flapper valve just below the neck opening. Now, I know about the 'flooding the fuel cannister' rule--have never got a 'lite' or had eng. problems brought on by the fuel cannister in my last 6 vehicles(ea. had a cannister) and I fill ea. in this way. Doing this, you will get a trueer mpg reading.

Having said that; I also will admit that burn-outs at the track will throw my mpg off some--maybe the odometer spinning 'up' along with the tires evens out the big 'gulps' the eng. sucks up when rollin' down the 1/4 at WOT?

My week day commute is about(drive to different places for lunch) 70-75 miles-round-trip--mostly I-75-in town for lunches. I get print-outs from the pumps and log them in my Ls book. I usually wait for 3-4 partial plus 'full' fill-ups before calculating mpg. My avererges are in the low 14s--14.1--14.5. Got one tankful at 15+ with steady, old-fart drivin'.

Not preachin'(Sunday mornin' here now) or flamin'--just think some of the younger guys might profit from many miles amd many gallons of wonderful drivin' fun from my first 62 years--hope so!

Dan
