Aftermarket Chip Question
When ever you want to put it on. But for sake of argument, im gunna say 500 miles or after your first oil change. Which ever you want to do. I really dont think it matters. The motors already some somewhat broken in. When we got our 2001 motor put in, it was started with the chip in and went to the race track the weekend after we got it back.
Can't speak for nobody but myself, but both my 99 and the 01 motor didn't seem to "wake up" till the odometer hit 2900/3000 miles. So it seems to me, that our motors are not broken in from the factory. It appears that after a few thousand miles the motors loosen up and start running well. Could be wrong, hell, I was wrong once this morning!
My truck got increasingly stronger up to about 3500 miles. When I first drove it at the dealership (8 miles on the odo) I was NOT that impressed - it seriously didnt have that much power - after a few thousand miles it was a whole different story.
really you can chip the truck whenever. But if you want a chip thats *customed* tuned to your truck I would wait til about 5k just so that it is completely broken in so you get the most out of everything.
