New Lightning Break in ? and What's needed for 11's?

Before people start whining, I clicked the FAQ it doesn't work.

First question,

Someone said breakin is important on these trucks. Whats the procedure.

Second Question,

What do I need for 11's. I went through enough trial and error building the cobra, that I don't want that again, I want the facts, period

I want to maintain great streetability as with my cobra, but be able to run in the 11's. I am going to campaign the truck in NMRA next year as I am selling the cobra.

Thanks.

The procedure is to hammer it mercilessly from the beginning so you won't have a slow truck. Enjoy

BTW I'm serious.

Welcome Beefcake!

I've enjoyed your help with my 99 Cobra over the last few years and want to congratulate you on moving on to a Lightning. I still have one of each.
As far as getting into the 11's go, if you don't plan to run nitrous, at a minimum you will need all of the bolt ons. Chip, filter/intake mod, torque convertor, sticky tires and lighter wheels, traction bars, electric fan, Cobra water pump, oval throttlebody, different plugs, upper and lower blower pullies, and exhaust mods including long tube headers, and other weight reduction/relocation type mods. Even at that you will be just on the verge of getting into the 11's. Many of us are right in that ball park now. shoot me another e-mail at lightning_624of4000@yahoo.com and I can tell you more.

I wish i could remember who said it so I could add their name to the quote pertaining to break in."I slung asphalt on lesser Fords as I left the dealership" I guess you had to be there, but it was a classic.

Thumbs up they aren't lying

drive it like you stole it. Change the oil at 3K and watch for the diesel sound. Apparently normal but doesn't sound right to some. I love mine and after 3500 miles, it gets quicker and quicker. Hey I got a JDm flip chip and breather for sale if your interested, only 2 weeks use.

Good luck with the truck!

Beefcake, give us a call during the day and we can hook you up with everything you need. I'm not sure if you remember us, but we had the Lightning display at the Modular Shootout in NC in the midway, and you had your car parked right across from us.
