I've ridden in some Subbies and have heard that the interiors tend to turn to crap after a year or so. They kind of fall apart. I've ridden in about 4 different ones in the last year and they all had the same problem.

the new Infiniti "skyline" clone is supposed to be here late this year/early next. AWD 280hp, listed in the mags at 28K. i've had a few Infiniti's and their build was as good as a Lexus. i think they are going to sell the higher priced Infiniti version for a while, before Nissan has it.

Feels underpowered in the low rpm's... feels great in the upper rpms.

Seen a couple doing 13.1s at the local track... no 12s yet... soon i'm sure.

George... you could get a spare Lightning...

I want one!

You may all think I am crazy but I would trade in the L and my Civic on one. I could get the performance of the L, the economy of the Civic, and the AWD would be great in the winter. 1 car payment would be sweet compared to 2. I would miss the L, but I could buy another one after I paid off all my bills!!!

Thats pretty funny, George. Then I could have two vehicles that get *****ty gas milage, blow up motors, trannies, intercoolers, and superchargers, and spend half the time in the shop. J/k, I love my truck, but I want a reliable, economical daily driver that is still fun to drive, and I think the Subby fills the bill. Think I am going to bury my situational ethics and get one. Dealer here wants to sell my one for 4% over invoice, which, as I recall, is similar to X-plan. About $24K out the door. I can handle that without dipping too deeply into my kid's inheritance. Think we will work out the deal tomorrow.

Alpha, let us know your thoughts after you get the WRX. I have been keeping a very close eye on the whole WRX/STi and Lancer Evo import situation for the U.S. All of the mags and people I've read just rave about the WRX in every way and I believe 'em. I am also tempted to get a WRX, but I am waiting to see how the STi and Evo VII play out. Man, 276 (300+) hp in a low 13-second 4 door sedan with AWD for year round fun and good gas mileage for a daily driver...woot!

Nawwwww. Rode my bike over to the Subaru dealer today and looked at them again. The back seats in the sedan don't fold so it would be impractical for hauling my dogs, or fishing rods, or bicyles, etc. The wagon would fit the bill, but I don't think I could stand driving anything that pedestrian looking, and as Irutt said, the interiors look incredibly cheesy, no wonder they don't last a year. Don't think I'd mind getting an Acura RSX type S, but they are hard to find and I'm not willing to take it in the shorts to get one. Looks like its rent-a-car time til the L. gets out of the shop.

Get a Focus ZX3 for 14.5K. Add a Jackson Racing Whipplecharger to it for another 3K. You'll have Son Of Lightning (SOL) for under 20K. 30 mpg, and high 14s in the 1/4. They're fun little cars to drive.

Well, I know that many of you are going to think that I am out of my gourd (my wife does, why not you?) but I have decided to get a VW Golf turbo-diesel. I already have the fastest vehicle on my block; why do I need another fast car? The Golf will carry my dogs or fishing tackle, no sweat, and the interior is sure nicer than the WRX. I like the idea of getting 45 mpg on jet fuel. My dealer is working on locating an '02 for me, with a little luck I might be able to pick one up in a day or two.

Lightbulb

Talked to a guy today that knew subarus. Talked about WRX and he said it was good but that the STI would be here next year from Europe and you should wait for it because it was BETTER, as in HP and handling.
