Orginization Of Lightning Owners
Ok Guys and gals here we go.
Please moderator let this run it's course,it's for the good of all Lightning owners.
Hi all,
I live in Illinois,I'm semi retired and have free time every week to spend organizing all the Lightning owners across the nation.I have lined up volunteers to help me all of whom own Lightnings.I have a person to help me with a quarterly newsletter, perhaps more often in the summer months but some kind of formal communication between us all on a regular basis.I know all about the NLOC and with all respects I know the burden of running the NLOC along with PSP s a heck of a job for Sal.This is by no means meant to undercut him in any way.
I visualize the NLOC as a club where members are organized and have common interests and goals, club sponsored events,a national chain of communication. And each region needs a responsible spokesperson to relay the events from their region to the person/people running the club.
I hear others say I'd like tio join the club, but where do I send My money,or others who have paid and gotten nothing in return.I can promise you all that the club I visualize is much different. It's a club for the members, with communication, sponsored events, contacts, and something we can all be proud of.Now I know the club has been thru some tough times but I think it's time to right the ship.
If the powers that be wish to keep the NLOC name and logo maybe we'll have to be the National Lightning Enthuiast Club,or something along those lines. But alot of us feel that we want to be part of something.I've met enough Lightning owners to know we can have one heck of a club, and know we have people in every corner of the US and Canada to forward news and events so we can all share.
I think WFC4 was the real showing of just what this club could be.With the right people at the helm we could have 100 L's in ST louis next year.
I just want all of you to know we here in Illinois are ready willing and able to promote the Lightning owners club to new heights and make it a class act.
A typical membership would consist of
Membership card
T shirt with Lightning logo
Club sticker for your L
An engraved plate to mount on you Lightning as for production number and year
And much more.
All funds would be handled by a treasurer and full accountability can be assured, excess funds would be used to spomsor events .
I really see a future for those interested.
I know there is a desire for this to happen, how do you feel???
We are asking to serve you all with our time energy and expertise and need your input to make this happen.

J Man,
Sounds like a great idea, I belong to another club called NOIEC (Northern Illinois Explorer Club), we have basically the same setup, we charge about a few dollars, but you dont have to pay to belong, just to get the extra goodies. Where at in Rock Island do you live?/ I have prolly seen you around town.

Let's go Jerry,
Imagine, a separate class for Lightnings (both Gen 1, and Gen 2)...what a concept. We have been jammed in other classes during Ford Fun Weekend events, as well as local and regional events (WFC is the only national event, to have Lightning classes). It is time for us Lightning owners to "rise up and be counted". We need a good focal point and classes that fit our vehicles.....no runs with motorcycles (just for you Jerry). I think that there could be a strong National Lightning Group, but do not see that happening with the current NLOC. I am not bashing anyone, but think the time has come for a change....is change better??? All comments and ideas are appreciated :-)
