Angry IC leak on 01 L is a reality...

Reading on another forum that a guy with a 01 L has an IC leak. I had always feared this might happen and what the hell is Ford using to braze the seams with?! He has 10K on the clock. Anyone with more miles than that and doing OK? I'm going to be watching mine like a hawk now. I'm crossing my fingers on this one

How about a link to that forum or a name of it. I'm sure alot of others would like to know too.

BTW- Ford doesn't make the intercooler, an outside company does, I believe Allied Signal or Garret.

Ford doesn't make them. I believe Spearco does.

Well, this is really disturbing.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the "new" intercooler replacement part for the 99 and 00's very similar to the 01 stock cooler?

Doesn't logic indicate that the "new" fixed intercoolers will be leaking again in 8000-10,000 miles?

On the bright side, I am SO GLAD I didn't waste $5000-6000 waiting for a 2001 or by trading in my 00 L for a 2001. Damn, I hate it for those who did, cause this has got to hurt.

Well I have 18,500 miles on mine with no sign of a leak yet. I don't know if I have the most miles on a 2001, but I am sure I am one of the higher mile 2001's

one thing that disturbs me about this board and others

is the fact how one person can find some sliver of a doubt whether it be by reading into something for too long a time or because of a low post count and the majority here follow suit in the mob. I think you guys really need to chill the **** out and quit thinking everything posted is BS till proven otherwise....

Just like the guy who posted about getting all his stereo stuff stolen at the dealer while being serviced. I'm no fan of crow but lots of people must like the taste of it......

Would anyone like my VIN or contract to prove I own a Lightning?

Lets take a second and think this thru

The issue with the 99 amd 2000 IC leaks want that one or 2 were leaking it was that 20-30+ percent were failing

Being that the intercoolers are mass produced it is not surprising to have one leaker out of thousands. The trouble comes after the 50th "me too !"

Lets be patient and the real story will play out.

Hey guys,
Didn't mean to stir up such controversy. My 01 is definately leaking coolant somewhere, though just a little. My dealer hasn't done any test on it yet. The problem is very mild so far. They wanted to contact Ford after looking at my build date. I haven't gotten any feedback yet. When I do I will post my results.
Thanks

I've got about 14,000 miles so far. I've driven a lot of intersatate miles with my business. I'm going to try and get some feedback from my dealer this week. The leak is so small I would love to find a fitting somewhere that's the culprit. I'll let you guys know the results.
