Thumbs up Just add Pearl

As some of you know, I had a rough experience in my silver 01 a few weeks ago and ended up wrecking my pride and joy. The insurance company didn't totall her considering that my truck needed a new frame. I was kind of leary of wanting my truck back sinced it has been wrecked, but when my insurance company said that they would back up the work 100% for as long as I own it I decided to take advantage of the situation.

My truck is Silver and is now going to be silver with Blue Pearl. I was able to get the body shop to do the pearl for free and I just had to pay for the materials. I hope that it turns out well. I'll post some pics as soon as the truck is finished. --Neil

The "best" body men can do incredibly great work....the only way to know is to ask around....see if they have done any custom rod work etc.....the best of luck....I'm sure our group would foam at the mouth to see this pearl tint. My last L was rearended by a young guy in a 4X4 jeep....the body shop did a wonderful job...you could not see any body work indicaters. My main concern for you is mechanical frame integrity or strength....once
steel is "stressed" it permanently has the "weakened flaw". Be
CAREFUL.

Hey Neil,

I found some dirt imbedded in my paint in some places on the bed of the truck when I picked it up...The dealer said he could fix them, I was skeptical that they could do a good job. I told the paint guy that I was picky. When I got the truck back a couple days later, you couldn't tell the repaint finish from the factory finish.. He really did a great job...

Tell them you expect a awesome job, If they can't guarantee it, find someone who can..

I want to see pictures of that enhanced Silver/Pearl Blue truck ..I bet it will look real good...

Are you coming to BG, I might let you take a spin in my truck at the track...Watch that WOT, It's JL enhanced like yours ... LOL

Take care,
DL

Hey Dl,
Thanks for your advice. I searched for quite awhile for the best body shop in my area. The body shop is well known for their awesome paint jobs. The owner restores and builds alot of street rods as well. The shop and my insurance co. ( Progressive) are standing behind their work for as long as I own it, cool huh ..

I am still going to Bowling Green but my truck will not be done in time. (I hate to rush the body man). I will be hanging out with Johnny and Sue and I will not be to hard to miss. I have a bright blue cast on my left leg and crutches. I am looking forward to visiting with you. Take Care--Neil

Good luck with the project Neil. Just be sure the body shop doesn't take the cheap way out and add the pearl to the clear. Dont laugh...I know some people that have done this in the past. It works....but not when you go to paint a panel afterwards, it never matches right. IMO

Thanks Spiro. Are you going to Bowling Green? I saw some recent pictures of your truck, my jaw dropped to the floor. It's hard to believe that is the same 11 sec. Lightning. Take Care--Neil
