Jdm/psp Chip Shoot Out Results
First these are for my 1/8 mile track. All times have been adjusted to 2.00 60' time which takes that variance out of the equation since I was hot lapping the truck and not adjusting the air pressure but on every other run. All runs were made at 5-8 minute intervals. BP was 29.65. Both chips were flip chips and run in track mode. Battery was disconnected before switching chips.
Runs are listed in order run. 1st run should be disregarded as engine and ic fluid were much cooler than all remaining runs.
temp humid ic fluid temp time chip
84 67 104 8.60 JDM
83 70 110 8.63 JDM
81 73 114 8.66 JDM
81 73 114 8.72 PSP
80 75 114 8.73 PSP
80 75 114 8.72 PSP
Since I ran the PSP second I elected to leave it in as I was bracket racing and needed the most recent times. The PSP chip
ran 8.70, 8.70, 8.69, 8.70 I finished in second place loosing by .0132 and running .01 off my dial. I was treed by .0124. The JDM chip was about .1 faster. I don't know how consistant it would have been if I would have run it. I may try it tomorrow night. The only reason this test did not have a JL chip is because I couldn't afford to buy all three. It no way reflects on the JL chip. I had an old superchip that JDM reprogrammed for 75 and I bought the PSP 4 way. I like the fact that you can switch the 4 way on the fly without shutting of the eingine and its consistantcy is great for bracket racing. The JDM chip may be consistant also. It is deffinately faster. Both chips worked great, however there was a double downshift at 110 with the JDM chip that I did not have with the PSP chip. Don't know what that was but it was in street not track mode. In track mode both chips worked flawlessly.

Interesting results.
These are the kind of "tests" we need. BTW, how did you correct everything to a 2.00 60'? Were they all within a few hundredths? It would be interesting to see those as well.
In all fairness to JDM, the everything varied in those runs (temp, IC temp, humidity). The PSP runs were fairly consistent.

now the next time you go to the track run the psp chip 1st and then jdm's that way we can see if it was because you were hot lapping and the truck just got a little hotter toward the end or if it's not the heat factor (trans temp, underhood temp) i'm looking at

Setting all 60' takes traction out of the equation. my 60' ranged from 1.98 to 2.02. If the run had a 1.98 60 add .02 . If run had a 2.02 subbtrct .02. Doing this removes a varible that has nothing to do with the chip. I will swithch the chips next Friday and see what happens and look for a JL chip. I don't believe transmission temp seriously affects these runs. Once I got to a point where the ic fluid temp reached its max limit for the conditions the truck ran the same all night. As a bracket racer I am not out for best run but consistant runs. My launch rpm was 1000-1200.

These products werent equally tested i say go to the track and run the PSP chip first when the engine is cool like you did with the JDM chip then that might be a better test. Also we have no idea if his launchs were the same for each run. That is the true test it has to be same conditions for each run and engine at same temp then you can really tell. But thanks again novlem for the tests.

noelvm you wouldn't happen to know what the program numbers are that both PSP and JDM puts on their chips would you? Tuners have many different programs and knowing what you have might help some L owners compare to yours. thanks Jeff
