What is the x-plan(sorry, new guy)
I was wondering what the X-plan is that everyone is talking about? I just recently sold my heavily modded LT1 camaro to buy a new Lightning and was planning on purchasing this spring. The dealership near my house has 5 L's in stock, one is actually a new 2000 that they never sold last year with only 89 miles, I could get that one for $24,900, but really want a white or silver 2001. I figure that they will not sell all of them by springtime(Green Bay, WI winters really suck for 2wd trucks) and I could get a good deal on one that is left over. I really would like to know about the x-plan and what kind of money we are talking with it. I used to own a 94 L so it is not my first L experience. Any info would be appreciated greatly.
OK.........
I bot my 01 on the x-plan. (Btw, get an 01 or 02--they seem to have fixed the leaking intercoolers that some of the 99 & 00 have. )
I would call various dealers(sales mgrs) first and ask if they will accept(they don't have to) x-plan pricing--ON A LIGHTNING--my local dealer would not--only on non SVT vehicles. Once/if you locate one, then you need to get a x-plan PIN.
To get the PIN, you have to belong to an association/organization that has an 'agreement' with Ford. I went to eaa.com(Experimental Aircraft Assoc.) and applied for membership--cost-$40/yr. Paid--then they issue(e/mail) you a membership number. With the m/n, go to their site and apply for the PIN. They will e/mail that to you and now you 'qualify' for a x-plan price--if the dealer is willing.
Btw, once I located 'my' dealer; he never even asked for my numbers! It was the easiest, quickest car deal I've been involved in. The cost will be around $28,900, instead of $32,400.

Thanx guys, I am a Autozone store manager, and I am almost 100% positive that as employees we qualify for the X-plan. I totally forgot about it until now. I forgot our pin# though so I will have to call and find out what it is. Thanx again!
Here's the link to join EAA and X-plan in case the Autozone thing doesn't pan out.
