oil problem 99 Lightning

I just bought a 99 Lightning from my local dealer used with 7500 miles on it. I have noticed that there is a burning oil smell coming from the engine. I have also noticed there is oil in my air filter/intake tube. Has anyone else experienced any of these symptoms expecially the intake? Please help. Yes I am bringing it to the dealer next week but just wanted to know if I'm the only one with this problem.

Hey BigJoe

The oild in the intake is normal, but you shouldn't be smelling oil.

mine has a rear main seal leaking 2001

I don't have an oil burning smell, but I do have an oil leak since 1500 miles or so. Looks to be the rear main seal, I just haven't had time to pull the tranny and fix it yet.

oil leak

Look closely and you will probably find that the oil is coming from between head and block at the rear on passenger side. The cure ranges from a head gasket, to head, to new engine. A new head gasket and several heads did not fix mine. new engine did. You will sometimes smell oil or see smoke when it gets on exhaust, particularly after some high rpm operating.

Thanks for the replys. It is coming from the passenger side. It looks like I need a new truck, I just got it a week ago today! Let's see what my dealer does for me.
