O/D off for best ETs?

What do you guys think: will the L run a quicker 1/4 mile if you turn off the overdrive? Is it just theoretical or do you know

Bet you don't get to O/D before the run is over, so it shouldn't matter either way.

No, you don't have to have it off, it is just superstition. One guy ran a faster time with the O/D off and word of mouth was working.

I have ran my best time with it on, so go figure.

OH, and you never reach redline in third gear when you cross the finish line.

Only if your bracket racing...

It won't shift int O/D as long as you have your foot on the floor, but I have gotten in a habit of turning my O/D off anyway. I do alot of bracket racing (1/4 mile)and you never know when you might have to get off the gas a little to keep from breaking out, which could result in the trans shifting into O/D of it was engaged (I actually won a few races beause someone left there O/D turned on). Just my .02.

Yes, you should get into the habit of turning the O/D off when you race. The factory setting for the 3-4 upshift to occur is 111mph for CUX1/2 and 117mph for CXN1. A non-nitrous truck with stock size tires will not hit these speeds at the end of the quarter, so the truck will not go into 4th gear. However, once you switch to shorter tires for the track, you skew the mph and most trucks go through the traps at about 115-120 on the speedo which will usually cuase a 4th gear upshift. Add nitrous to the truck and the mph shoots way up. You don't want to shift into 4th gear because it's a .71 gear ratio, and power drops like a rock. Hope this helps.

Cool

I have tried it both ways several times and there is NO difference. The only reason to do this is if your L tries to switch into O/D at the finish line.
