MR2(slow)
Probably shouldnt of wasted my time but coming home form the atm last night a little red mr2 pulled up next to me at the light. I drive a 2001 Silver L(stock except for an aftermarket paint chip). I was minding my business but he started revving his lawnmower engine so I had to put it down. I had a little tire spin off the line but I smoked him bad. I pulled up to the next light and a good while later he pulls into the turning lane beside me(I guess he had enough). The funny thing was his passenger was throwing his fist up in the air and waving it around laughing at his buddy. The kid driving just looked at my truck with his jaw kinda slack. I guess he will think better of racing another Lightning.

You'll leave stock mr2s all day on a straight away. You should try to keep up with them on some twisties tho. That's where they really shine.
Not trying to start a flame war, just a discussion... How bad did you pull from him? I've raced 2kL a couple of times and depending on the situation we've had some pretty good runs. His truck is much faster than my MR2, but the races are still pretty close most of the time.

I would say it was pretty close up till I got out of 2nd. I was ahead of him the whole time. When I hit about 80mph I looked in the rearview and he was behind me a good distance. I would say four or five car lenghts. My lightning can hold its own on the twisties as well.
I doubt you would have pulled my "91 turbo It ran a best of 12.6 at 118 on very slipery sreet tires, with a top end of over 170 MPH. This was with an all stock internal motor and with just bolt ons.
This in no means a flame, I love these Lightnings, but be careful to what import you pull up to..

mods on my MR2 at the time of the performance level mentioned above:
G-Force computer It was Tadashi's prototype computer for the MR2 turbo, he has since moved to California. Bigger turbo, Greddy intercooler, VPC, EVC, HKS Exhaust, powerflow, blow off valve, Lowering springs, tokico 5 way adjustable shocks, Suspention technics front and rear sway bars, 17" OZ Futura modular 3 piece wheels with Pirreli P zeros, Auto power 6 point roll cage with door bars, Body kit, ect. It has been a while since all that was done so I can't remember everything, I bought the car new in "91 and put over ten grand in it for each of the first few winters it was up. I had a couple of bad expeirences with getting my new motor built for it, so now with all the stress that I had to deal with the car was put on hold and it sits in my garage with only 24,000 origanal miles on it. I have a brand new "93 transaxle still in the factory Toyota crate, Stillen carbon fiber clutch, 6 of the 550 cc Supra injectors 2 being additional injecters, a huge turbo (for the time) Dan paramore cylinder head, manifold , cams, and a strocker motor on an engine stand that I still haven't put back in. The co. that was building the motor last (powerhouse Motors, out of Mass.) folded and i'm lucky I got my car and most of my parts back. Back when my car ran, I had my girlfreind (my current wife) with me and I raced the owner of RPM out of N.h. on a long straight away, I pulled him pretty good and he had a new Rx7 R1 all modified it was rear wheel dynoed at more than 350 h.p. and he was by himself. So with the MR2 being heavier than the RX7 and the fact that I had a passanger and he was by himself, I would say at the time I had to been up around 350 to 380 in hp to have pulled him like I did. I have in my folder for the car over 65K in reciets, counting the car. I will love the day when I finaly trust some one to finish the car, At the time I was fairly young and the car was the most important thing to me, if you only knew how I was as I got ****ed around on this whole deal, some of the people were concidered good freinds, you would understand why it has just been siting covered up for years. Some day I will work on it again but when? I have no idea, I have just been buying other toys to keep my mind off the car. I think I am amotionaly healed now so I guess when my interest comes back for it, it will be on the road again.

Just to let you know I didnt pull up next to him he pulled up next to me and started revving his engine. If he beat me which he didnt, I would of been impressed. I dont mind fast imports it's the ones that are all exhaust and nothing else that make me lose respect for them.

I hear you, I hate fart pipes on imports. We have tons of neons and civics running around farting at everyone. I'm sure people think i have a ricey exhaust set up... It's about a 3" inches cat back, with a pretty large bassy set up. I think it's the best sounding 4banger around, but i'm biased.
i'm not gonna say i haven't revved on ppl before.. but it was a situation where i wanted to instigate a race to see what the other car had. Everytime i'm done racing i give the other guy a Thumbs up. I'm not trying to be a ****, i just want to have fun and have a good race. Most MR2 drivers are pretty good guys and apprieciate a nice high performance vehicle whether it be a car or truck.
Me and 2kL are over in MD we should all get together sometime at the track.
