Well, picked up my wife's 2001 L she found on ebay, in KC, and drove it home. Easiest 1400 miles I have ever driven. Like the improvements over the '99 we had. Averaged about 14 mpg, mostly with the a/c on. Some M3 driver who loved the left lane almost took me out when I decided to pass him on the right. I should flashed my lights. I don't think he realized how fast the Lightning can jump around a car. Nice machine (so is the M3)

1000 miles in 13.5 hours. Not counting stops for gasoline, etc., means you had to be averaging at least 75 MPH. And 14 MPG is better than I would expect at those speeds, in my humble opinion.
the mileage is accurate (more)
I checked the mileage pretty closely each time I filled. Traveling on a Sunday helped keep the traffic down and I always gas-n-go to minimize delays. My friends that are "Iron Butt" riders know what I am talking about. When I run One Lap, we average five to six thousand miles in seven days, and that is with the main part of the day on the track and not in transit.
