have I dodged the 'bullet' or am I just waitin' for the LEADED axe to fall?

Fri nite I arrived at the strip having just installed JL's new pulley but didn't have a reburned chip yet(my fault, not JL's). Had JDM's warm-weather chip installed and was worried by possible lean a/f ratios lean condition/ping. I had 1/4(?) tank of Texaco 93 and went to add 2 gals. of 100 unleaded. The unleaded pump was broken--only 110 or 114 LEADED available. What to do? I bot 2.5 gals. of the 110 and made 5 passes--no audible ping(who could hear it anyway over the s/c scream).

No SES lite--after the races, I drove 30 miles and filled up with Shell 93 and 2 cans of BG fuel system cleaner--still no 'lite'. Drove to work this am--still no lite? Any help or past experiences welcome.

Thanks, Dan

From what I've been told, leaded will plug up your cats, and foul your o2 sensors...

If you notice a decrease in performance, you may wanna have those checked out...

A Little Wisdom...

'Rod:

A good retreat is better than a bad stand. I wouldn't have risked poisoning the cats (which you did to some degree) for the sake of test-and-tune glory. Do you have a mandatory periodic emissions check where you live?

It should not do any harm if used only once. But there is no need for that much octane, or the leaded fuel.
I would recommend (if no 100 octane is available) that you keep a can of NOS octane booster with you. It works very well, and would be less expensive than running that risky LEADED fuel. I prsonally used the RACE version with Nito Methane if I cant find 100 octane.

Maybe I missed it...what did you run?

That leaded fuel may not hurt anything on your vehicle but, here in Arizona they used a paper that was placed on the tail pipe and it was supposed to tell the inspectors if you had used any leaded fuel and then you failed the inspection. Somehow the lead would leave traces on the metal.

Thanks guys,

No vehicle inspection in my area........

Spiro: new best but still no 12--ran a 13.109@104.71.

No degradation in sop performance--yet, but I should have run with just the Texaco 93 and been satisfied--won't do this again.
