Question Front Plates?!

Hmmm, I've noticed in a lot of people's signatures that many have fornt license plates. For those of you that do, is it because you get pulled over by the boys?

That's the only reason. The jacka$$es at the dealership screwed a plate frame into my bumper, but I took it off as soon as I got home. I ran it that way for 6 months until I got a $105 ticket for no front plate. It just gives them a reason to pull you over, then when they don't find anything else, they'll write you for that.

Yeah, I'm bitter about it!!

State law in Ohio, and i imagine it is the same in Virginia, that if a front plate is required it must be displayed on the front bumper---Jim

State law here in CA also. Some of the cities are really beginning to enforce it. With all the video stoplight enforcement, they can't ticket you unless they can see your face in the camera and read the license plate. I guess from now on these crazies will just have to cover their eyes when the drive through red lights

It's a law here in Ca. I have one, took it off for about a minute and saw haw shiznitty the bumper looked with those "outtie" holes and screwed it back on. I have seen other L's without the plate that never had them. Somewhere down the line I guess I will have to order a new front bumper......

Talking

Haven't had a front plate on any of my vehicles since '84 and haven't been cited yet, even by the cop who cited me for doing 118 (guess he thought that was sufficient), but that doesn't mean I won't be. Only a few localities that I know of are diligent about reinforcement, and I try to avoid them. They are not necessary for the red light cams, since those also snap a pic of the rear of your vehicle, too.

Thumbs down

I hope they never require a front plate in GA. I'd have to stop driving the L in the daytime.

Mass Plates

Massachusetts requires front plates, unless you have the old plain green & white plate, which was rear only and is being phased out.. I got away with putting a USMC plate on the front for a while, but that is only because of the large number of Marines who are state troopers.

I'm sure I'd be bagged for having nothing at all up there.

Talking ditto

Yah, I reside in Cali as well, but have never had a front license plate on any of my cars, haven't been hassled yet.
