Angry Help With This Upper Pulley Install???

I did a search and nothing that would help came up, so don't go there Noel, or SPIRO. HAHAHAHA

Alright guys, I know this might sound wierd but I can't get this damn pulley to come off! I got the upper pulley system from metco and I got the pulley puller tool, and I'm pretty sure I got it setup right but this pulley is not coming off. I got a wrench thats almost 1.5 feet lond on the end of the bolt and still no go!!! I should have enough torque on it, but nothing is bugding.

Does anybody know of any good directions that can help me with this, pictures would be nice.

I got some with the kit, but (sorry metco) they suck! Half the words are missing and the pictures that are in the kit are so blury I couldn't even tell that they where from a grand prix at first?? Whats with that, sending out grand prix pictures with a lightning pulley kit. I know the blowers are similar, but I'm a picture person.

Anyway, someone give me some insight on this thing!
I probably got it set up right, but I'm just afraid to put that much pressure on this thing, are you supposed too!

Sorry, I can't help you too much as I haven't instaled one myself, but I will say this:

I had holy hell trying to break the bolt loose when I did my lower pulley, so the top one might be the same. Just be sure that the enitre setup (snout and all) is COLD before doing anything. Get some freezer ice packs or something and let them really chill all of the components. If not, you're going to have all kinds of trouble....just ask 99SVT about his episode at Sonic a few years ago.

I just did this on my 01 last week. It takes ALOT of force to break the stock pulley loose!! But once it breaks loose, it come right off. Be sure you have the hole on the rectangle breaker bar facing the drivers side fender, install the bar and a LONGER extension of some sort.(I had a longer bar laying around. Make sure you have the nut tightened up so you have tension on the pulley and push up like hell on the breaker bar. It took me and a 260 lb. buddy to break mine loose! If you need more info. email me @ stuuduck66@aol.com and Ill give ya my phone #. May be better to talk on the phone.

Sorry I don't have pictures but maybe this will help.

1) First you need to make sure that the truck is completely cooled off. The Eaton generates alot of heat and takes several hours to cool completely. If it's not cool, the metal expansion will hold onto that pulley like it's welded on.

2) Remove the bolt in the center of the pulley and then take off the supercharger belt.

3) Take off the intercooler reservoir to give yourself enough room to position the pulley puller. You don't need to drain it or anything, just remove the bolt holding it onto the fan shroud and pull it up out of it's mounting brackets.

4) To use the pulley puller - push the large screw through the center of the rectangular piece of aluminum and the two smaller screws through the holes on the side.

5) Put the washer and 15/16" nut on the the large screw and back it up 4-5".

6) Thread the large screw into the center of the supercharger pulley (where you removed the bolt in step 2).

6) Place the horshoe looking piece of aluminum behind the pulley and thread the two bolts on the sides of the rectangular piece of aluminum into the holes of the horseshoe looking piece. Make sure you get them as even as possible.

7) Tighten the 15/16" nut and washer (from step 5) so it snugs up to the rectangular piece of aluminum. Have somebody give you a hand and hold onto the outer nut with a wrench (and the pipe you insert into the aluminum rectangle) while you crank on the inner 15/16" nut.

It takes a hell of a lot of strength to remove this pulley, and when it finally breaks free, you may hear a loud popping noise. It sounds exactly like the sound you hear when you snap the head off a bolt. I thought I snapped the large screw off into the supercharger shaft. After you hear that pop the pulley will pull right off.

****Warning*****
Be very carefull when you put the new hub on, don't push it on too far - and check to make sure you have enough clearance for the small pulley to turn. Mine didn't and I ended up filing a couple 1/1000'ths off the supercharger snout which I really didn't want to do.

Hope this helps,
