Nailed a woodchuck on a roadcourse
Nailed a woodchuck on a roadcourse
I went to Nelson Ledges Roadcourse today in Northern Ohio. As usual, everyone was amazed and impressed by the handling abilities of the truck. I was coming around a turn at about 70 mph and saw something in the middle of the track. I thought it was a cat, but it turned out to be a woodchuck. I moved to the left to go around it and it decided to commit suicide by running under my tires. Luckily I was on a turn so I didn't have my speed up. I told the track worker that it was on the track, so they shut it down to remove the body. Earlier in the day there were buzzards hanging around the track. They must have been psychic since I ended up giving them a meal. A couple of months ago I was there and almost nailed a dog. It's also not unusual for deer to wander on the track, although I haven't seen this yet. The track worker did say that on motorcycle race days the bikers had been complaining about a woodchuck running back and forth on the track. Sounds like I did them a favor. Tom
Mr. Willie Woodchuck was a member in good standing; and, his surviving family members have requested that it be made clear that he had reserved track time during said incident.
