Question Lower Pulley install

Those of you who have installed the lower pulley, were you able to do so yourselves? I was reading over the instructions and it's seeming kind of difficult. I haven't actually gotten under the truck and looked at it yet, but I was wondering how long the install took for those of you who have it.

I'm no wrench-turner, but....

I did mine, and I'm not the most mechanical person around. It took a few hours, but I was really taking my time. If I did it, you can do it. Go for it!

Don't forget the breaker bar - you WILL need it!

Otherwise, not too bad of an install... oh, and the I/C reservoir kinda gets in the way when pulling the tensioner out of the way (or at least it did for me)

No kidding about the breaker bar. I sure needed one. And I don't know how to tell you to be careful about this, but my pulley was tight as H*LL and when it broke loose, the breaker bar smashed into my transmission cooler lines and bent one, putting a sizeable dent in the closest one too. It didn't hurt it functionally, but it made me mad. I hate screwing up like that.

Hehe
Ya it sure helps to have the right tools. Shawn from JDM did the surgery on my truck. It took him 20 minutes, man he is good.

One trick he showed me is to disconect the top transmision line off the radiator, and then put a cap over the fitting on the radiator. This makes it a lot easier to remove the
shroud for the radiator. I wish I had known that trick when I did the electric fan installation.

Using a hammer on the breaker bar works like an impact and saves on the skinned knuckles and you have more beer leftover for yourself. 1 1/2 hours from breaking out the Craftsmans to putting away the Rhino ramps. Worst part is starting the bolts on the new pulley. Takes a couple tries to get the holes lined up.

I appreciate the replies. I'll probably sit down and try to figure it out tomorrow morning before college football starts up. Hopefully I'll have it all figured out before I head to the Marshall Univ. game, so we'll see. Thanks again

Thumbs up

With a little common sense and a little patience you'll have no troubles. Just make sure and watch the breaker bar because it'll be slippery after digging around amongst all the gunk...thank God it didn't slip all the way out of my hand. Oh, and be sure to make sure the pulley is straight all the way around....I just did mine like a tire and rotated around on the three screws a couple of times. If you have a lift it won't take you long at all. With a lift and all tools on hand it only took us a few hours and one or two knuckles.

DUCK

Just installed the JDM Pulley . . .

The JDM lower pulley was very easy to install, mainly due to the instructions being so good. It took about 2 hours by myself with the truck on Rhino Ramps. I took my time. =)

Read the instructions first, get all the mentioned tools and go to town! =)
