First off you need to remove the computer.
Look inside the engine compartment behing the batter with a flashlight. You'll see a big wiring harness and a bolt in the middle of it.
Get a 10 milimeter socket out and loosen that bad boy up.
Then go inside the cab and look under where that area is and take a black plastic clip off by pushing it to the right.
Then just pull the Computer out.
Then remove the black plastic cap over the CPU.
Then get a razor of some type of tool to remove the glue on the connections, make sure there clean, real clean. After you scrap that off rub some alcohol on the area.
The place the chip in the spot and duct tape it tightly to the CPU.
reinstall the chip and your done. enjoy!
P.S. you may want to remove the motherboard for easier access to the tabs that need to be stripped. just unscrew the 6 black bolts!

Hi Sam
let me guide you through the install.
(1) DISCONECT YOUR BATTERY
(2) Take a 10MM socket wrench and unscrew the wire harness, it is located in the engine compartment, behind the battery along the fire wall. I found a 1/4 inch drib=ve with a 2-3 inch extention works best.
(3) pull the wire harness away from the proccesor.
Now go into the passenger compartment and look under the passenger kick panel for the proccesor, there is a plastic clip that holds it in place. Remove the clip and then the proccesor should come right out.
Once you get the proccesor out there are a few bolts that have to be removed, so you can get the covers off. I have never done a diablo chip, but I suspect it is about the same as a superchip.
Clean the coating off the rear terminals, I like to use a jewlers screwdriver to scrape the coating off. Take your time and make sure you get it all off. Remember you have to clean both sides. Then take the little scotch btite pad and scuff it up a little bitt.
I also Like to take a alcohol treated towlette to further clean the terminals. The most important thing is to get the terminals really clean.
Then install the chip, and put the computer back together, and reinstall every thing in the reverse order. Make sure when you plug the wire harness back in to make sure it goes on strait, and that the pins do not get bent. reconecting the battery last, and you will be all set.

Go to SVTlightnings.org or SVTlightnings.com which ever is up and click on how tos - There is a step by step with pictures on instlaling a chip.
If you do a search 1 or 2 others have also done step by steps.
Good luck

As a followup to that--isn't there a "relearning" period for the computer or does the reprogramming from the chip reach full effect as soon as you restart?

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong
I love my JL Diablo CHIP! Its SOO Sweet, the shift points are good 5,450 and the shifts are much firmer and the downshifts are amazing! Also when you first install the chip there is a relearning period, all the Gauges go to the highest points and then there is a sound of some sort then it goes normal, to begin with when I first saw that it scared the S**t outta me, I thought I would have to take it into the dealer! But its ok ;p
Thanks for your help guys!

This is their way of 'thanking you'--they kinda smile, don't they?
