Bad experience, got my L back from the dealer
Guys and gals, Last night I didn't know if I should laugh or cry. I got my 00 L back after getting the clunk fix and the wiper recall done. Keep in mind that it took me 5 weeks to get this done from the time I went to make an appointment. No, I didn't let them keep my L all that time, but I didn't drive it very much because the alignment was so far out.
Well, the first thing I did was check their work when I got home with it. They didn't get the driver's side wiper cowl back on right. Now it sticks up in the middle about 1/4" where it meets the other side.
As far as the the clunk, well I'm not sure if it is fixed or not, but I do know that they did not follow the TSB procedure. I can tell that they did not clean the frame wax off and they did not put new frame wax back on when they were done. I can still see the old rusty slide mark on the frame.
So, what to do. At this point I am ready to either blow a gasket or take on a whole new attitude. I'm trying the new attitude.
From now on I will always assume that every warranty or recall experience I have at any Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealer is going to be a bad one. I will assume that all Ford tech's are sloppy on warranty work and will not do the job right.
I will not be going back to this dealer with my L ever again. If they can't do the wiper recall and clunk TSB properly, how in the hell can I trust them to fix my intercooler when it leaks.
I am determined to find a competent Ford tech somewhere in my area. I know there has to be one somewhere, for when my intercooler needs the leak fix. The search is on for a good Ford tech. Where are you???
I'm gonna try to fix the wiper cowl myself, and I will probably end up paying for the "Herb's washers" , napa cam-bolt kit, and an alignment myself at a non Ford shop.

good idea, for that matter I think you should tell all other Ford owners not to bring their vehicles into the dealership for warranty repairs. Let everyone know that all warranty experiences are bad. We stupid *** mechanics don't like doing warranty work anyway, most times it pays less than half of what an equivalent customer pay job would be worth. That's why we are sloppy, we don't give a crap about your piddly warranty job, we would rather be overcharging some poor unsuspecting out of warranty customer for something that they probably don't need anyway.
sarcastically yours,

P.S. sorry for the smart *** reply, I just get tired of hearing about how all the dealership mechanics are idiots and dealerships are evil and all that. I know that there are plenty of stupid asses out there and I know that most of the techs could give a rats *** about an SVT.
But personally I have plenty of training about all areas of Ford vehicles and I take pride in my work for every customer and I try to take extra care of SVT people because I understand where they are coming from and that they love their vehicles, whereas a regular customer lots of times just sees their vehicle as transportation. reguardless, I'm sorry that you had a bad experience at the dealership, a few of us are not dumb asses.

superfords, Sorry I offended you but you must have some understanding of the frustration level I am going through.
You may be a great tech and if you are I applaud you. I know there are some good Ford tech's out there. You are in the top 1%, I assure you, if you give a rats behind about doing quality work. Especially, if you do good warranty work.
Where are you superfords, I want you to work on my L!

Unfortunately there are too few techs like SuperFords and of course Sal. I have been burnt too many times and have yet to find a dealer/tech I feel comfortable with. If I find one I will follow him/her wherever they go. Until then the small stuff like the clunck I will take care of my self. Dreading having to do the wiper re-call. I know as soon as they pop the hood they will freak at the mods. Drop off for re-call and pick up with voided warranty. Paranoid? Probably. But if I don't have warranty work done I guess I don't have anything to worry about.
