Smile How long b4 you REALLY let loose?

Just curious how many miles everyone drove their L before letting it rip the streets up? I know most people suggest waiting 1,000. So I was just wondering how long you all held back, IF in fact you did?! I've only got 250 miles on mine, and I am already catching myself doing silly stuff (but that's what these are made for right?) All input is appreciated. I'd really like to hear from everyone that is in the low 12's, but like I said, all input is great

I went WOT out of the dealerships parking lot smoking the tires when I finished the deal on mine. Before I left my sales person asked what I was going to do to this one. He knows me.....

I waiting 1500 miles. It was hard but I was able to do it. My cruise control was the first to put some boost though my truck!

I was testing my truck on the first day.The manual says the only break in is to vary the speed the first 1000 miles, nothing about rpm or speed.(Warning:I'm an air conditioning mechanic and had to have my wife read the manual to me.) I interpreted this to be a Ford approved"get yer YA-YAs out".Thats just me,but I'm not right anyway.

i have had lots of high performance cars over the years. if you want yours to perform, do not, i repeat , do not baby it . keep the revs moving up and down the tach a lot. change the oil a lot in the first few miles. if you want a fast one, treat is like you stole it as some guys say.

Talking A good break in story

I waited around 1,200 to fully break mine in, on the day of the first time I broke it in around town I scheduled a race between me and my buddy (99 Cobra w/Bassani exhaust and chip) anyway I thought I was gonna get spanked. As soon as I rolled off the line I let her rip and I was TOSSED back into my seat the Cobra roared next to me a little bit ahead of me. I then proceeded to walk away from the Cobra as if he had missed 3rd gear. I shut off at about 120 fearing for the engine and he pulled up next to me with his jaw dropped, I was giggling uncontrollably like a little kid. I couldnt believe I smoked a cobra like that, I asked him "Did you miss 3rd gear?" . He replied "No, you f**king whooped ME!". As we gave it another go I smoked the tires this time and he caught and went so I played catch up for about 20 yards and proceeded to once again catch him into 3rd gear and beat him by a half a car this time unlike the first time which was nearly 2 to about 1 1/2. Oh.. well anyway I broke mine in at 1,200 it was a hell of a way to brake it in though

Sam

We nailed it as we were leaveing to lot, and had fun since. Pulled a best of a 12.5 on the old motor (piston slap go to bad and was replaced), and a best of a 12.3 on the new motor. Looking to hit 12.1's very soon...
