Spark plug problem

I called my dealer today to see if they have heard anything about fixing the stripped plug and they said they will have to replace the head. They are going to do the same thing warranty wise that they did on my intercooler fix (they pay 80% and i pay 20%). They said that they are writing it up as a continuation of the intercooler fix so i guess they are helping me all they can I wanted to know what they are going to have to do to replace the head and how long should it take. They told me that once they get the part that it would take up to 3 days to have it finished. Any added thoughts about this and the way that it is being handled would be appriciated.

Thanks
Damon

STRIPPED HEAD

I did a heli-coil in my number 5, and luckily it worked out for the better. But I think someone once told me that Ford would rather change the head, then install a heli-coil. Only reason I took that route was because I was out of warranty.

I have 43K+ on my L and I have no mods yet, I was waiting until i got the intercooler fixed and then this happened with the spark plug.

They said that was the first option on how to fix the plug but they said that it would not work for somereason and they will have to replace the head. Not sure why they could not use a heli coil to fix.

To properly install a heli-coil, the head would have to come off. So I guess they figure it would be easier, and smarter to change the head entirely.

When i blew a plug out ford replaced the whole head, The mechaninc said it wasnt even helicoilable?????

they said with the boost these trucks make its a better way to handle the situation.

so then i asked him why the 5.4 expediotions are Na and blowing plugs out he said he never had that problem.
