Disabling Headlights?

Does anyone know how to disable the headlights from flashing when you lock your doors with the factory keyless entry remote? I only want the parking lights to flash and not the headlights.

The reason is because I will be getting my real HID xenon lights anyday now and don't want to wear out the lights from having them turning on and off repeatedly.

Im not sure how to get the headlights to not blink when u hit the lock button. But one thing i do like is that i have my lighted ford logos front and back and when i click the lock button they flash with the headlights i think it looks pretty cool.

This is just a guess but somewhere in the alarm system there is a wire that's either controlled by a relay or the computer run to the headlight circuit. Find that and change it to the parking light circuit.
Anyone with a service manual with good schematics?

My friend who hooked up my lighted logos just wired them into my head lights and tail lights so that when i turn the head lights on they come on. So since they are wired into the headlights and when you click the lock button on the keypad and your head lights flash so do the logos. If you got to www.svtlightnings.com and click on their how to section them have awesome directions on how to install them thats what i went by hope that helps.

When I hit the factory remote to lock the doors, none of the lights blink. The only thing that happens is the interior and 3rd light light up. Anyone else's truck does this?

Surfs Up......hmmm.....I am in the same boat now with my HID setup, it needlessly flashes the headlamps which I am certain will be bad for the balasts' sooner or later.

I am looking at the Ford wiring book now and do not see a clear way to seperate the two lighting systems. What is happening is the RAP modue sends out a ground which is also spliced into the auto lamp system to trigger both head lamp and parking lamp relays. I dont care about the park lamps showing so I am going to pull pin # 8 of the 22 pin connector at the RAP to solve this problem. The horn will still sound which is all I want. It is a light green/yellow stripe wire. This will avoid interfering with the auto lamp system.

If you really wanted to have the park lamps trigger, you could use a relay triggered by the above mentioned circuit feeding the park lamp circuit at the headlamp switch.

Hope this helps some.....

'00BlackLightning,
I guess we won't have to worry about this when we upgrade to the HID's. My interior and cargo lights are the only ones that come on when I lock or unlock my truck with the remote aswell.

O.k. here's the deal, you guys are hitting your lock button twice, you only have to hit it once to lock your doors and no lights will flash and no horn will sound. If you hit it twice when locking it then the lights will flash and the horn will sound. If you don't want to wear your HID's out just hit it once. and No lights flash when you unlock it only the interior and the cargo lights come on.

Hd, all things being equal, I would agree with you, unfortunatly......

I almost always hit it twice to lock as most of the time I can't hear the locks working. It does not help that I live close to a pretty busy airport

I just wish that Ford would offer it as something that we could change, kinda like the belt minder thing.

I had the same problem of not being able to hear the doors locks. I don't like the idea of the horn blowing and the lights flashing (a pet peeve of mine) so the last thing I do before I close the door is to push the door lock button. This way there is no question whether it's locked or not and I don't have to listen to the horn blaring.

On the 2001s, the truck comes set from the factory to flash the headlights on the first lock of the key fob. Hit it a second time, and the horn beeps. You cannot rewire this to work the parking lamps instead. However, you CAN go to you dealer, and using the HGS or WDS, they can turn off the light flash function.
