Question Anyone that has taken out stock stero headunit??

Hey i had a question for anyone that has taken out the stock stero headunit. I was wondering how you got it out of the dash i see those 4 holes in the front of the radio and was wondering if you needed a special tool to put there to get the radio out. Also when you remove the radio and put an aftermarket one there does it just slide into replace the stock one, leaving that infamous hole above the radio that i have the billet radio plate for that says lightning on it. Any info would be great.
Thanks
Vin

You dont need a tool. a small screwdriver will do. just insert into the hole and use it to depress the tabs.

Most aftermarket units will leave a gap so you'll want a plate or pocket to fill up the gap.

It is two small wires bent into a U shape, basically just stick them into the holes on the the radio and pull the unit out. If you order from crutchfield they give you the tool and wiring harness free.

Yep, and then charge you an arm and a leg for the unit usually. Hey, just go to your local sound shop and have them price match (most are already cheaper than Crutchfield as it is). You'll get great customer service that's personal and friendly (hopefully). Install it yourself unless you're worried you may not do it right. They'll even usually give you pointers on the proper way of doing it.
