Cool Help..with fuel pressure guage

Hey Guys
Hope you can help. I just purchased a guage pod ( dual ) for a boost and fuel pressure guage which are both auto meter phantoms..My questions concern the fuel pressure guage, (1)where is the best or only place to locate the sending unit?? (2) I have heard of an "additional box" that goes with the guage, did I miss something or does the guage simply wire directly to the sending unit..Any tips, tricks or advice would be appreciated......*Note* I did a search but was not able to get any clear info..

Thanks much
Paul

If its electrical...and i assume it is...you need a "eletrical box" that converts the fuel pressure over to an electrical signal that gets sent to your gauge. My gauge/box etc was 180.00....expensive but at least there are no fuel lines run inside ****pit

My confusion still stems from the fact that the directions show the guage wired to the sending unit and I keep hearing about the " box" .. Also where to install the sending unit

Thanks

looking at the autometer catalog, it looks like you mount the electric sender under the hood (find a place), run the fuel line to it, and run the wire(s) to the guage inside the cab.

There are two types of Autometer Fuel Pressure Gauges. One is mechanical, and if you want to run it in the cab, you need an isolator kit. The other is electrical. The electrical fuel pressure gauge is $180-$200, but is worth it, as it's the best fuel pressure gauge I've ever used. It comes a black box, about 3"x4" which is the control module. The gauge wires into the module. It also comes with the sender, which is a large round unit that goes into your fuel rail. It does require a special adapter to bolt onto the Ford fuel rail, available at any good speed shop. The sender also wires into the module. If you somehow got the gauge and the sender, but no module, it's useless. You can also spend another $40 and get the electrical module with the recal function. It will record your highest and lowest pressue settings. Hope this helps.
