Wish I could. That's kind of short notice !!! I still need to get a helmet, and some money-refinance is killing me, so is the Lightning, the Land Cruiser, taxes..........
2KL---I emailed the Impala guy for 10-6 to see if it was ok with him seeing as it's his event. I'll let you know as soon as I hear from him.

Black, Red, Silver, White and YELLOW are my favorite L colors.

you don't need a helmet...only if you run 12.99 or faster..
you need a helmet if you run 13.99 or faster only if it is a convertible.. Cost to race is 12 bucks and gates open at 6.

IS this correct--I don't need a helmet if I run 12.99 or slower (I guess that IS possible)?
How crowded does it get? How many runs can we get in?
You've been there so I figure you know about the helmet thing.
I'll email you tonite or do another post and let you know. I AM interested.

usually get agbout 4 or 5 runs before they start eliminations. I usually run the first round and if the truck is feeling good and i win I will go on... I mean, hell i can always use $500 if i win...

If MIR follows NHRA rules, then you will need a helmet. At all the tracks I have been to (which isn't too many), if you run 13.99 or faster you need to wear a helmet.

MIR uses IHRA.....and friday is Midnight madness..(run what you brung) I have seen people running 11's with no cage or helmet... Not saying that it will happen that way all the time.... but you don't need a helmet for 13's there.

Problem is I don't have a helmet. I don't want to borrow one at the track. I possibly have a couple other Lightning owners willing to come but they don't have helmets either. I'm not being a crybaby but I gotta know for sure-unless of course they have "rent-a-helmet" or something at the track. It's a pretty good drive for just a single or no run for 12.00+. I can borrow one from a friend but I can't get it this quick. I guess you could always tell me to get screwed and just stay home with my naked unsafe head.

Clear this up for us Brandon!!!

Do YOU have a helmet?

i promise, you won't need a helmet, but if some of you are leary of that i will bring a helmet. Just let me know.. I have never taken a helmet before when running the truck.

I am a man and I will admit when I am wrong and I was. Helmets for 13.99 or quicker.... http://www.mirdrag.com/classrules/midnightm.htm

But, like i said they are very leanient on friday nights and unless you are clipping of some low 12's they won't mess with you. When i met up with Thunderstruck at the track he was running low 13's with no helmet.

Plus the announcers and the groud go crazy when the lightnings race, so i seriously doubt they would start getting strict now.

I wouldnt mind going but I read on a MIR pamphlet that you also need a drive shaft loop. How easy is one to install and where can I get one. Is it possible just to fabricate one or does it have to be an approved driveshaft loop?

They have never checked for a driveshaft loop. The tech inspectors don't look under the truck. If you weren't running street legal class or you pulled in with gutted interior, cage, nitrous, they may look under (or just ask). The tech inspectors there are actually pretty cool. Let me race my car without a battery hold down one night (just bungee corded....ghetto "yes it was")
Don't know what else to tell you guys other then I have no concerns about anyone being allowed to race without helmet, or driveshaft loop.

Brandon, unless something very important happens (work late, get the squirts or something) I'll be there.

If you are wrong about the helmet, I will type very harsh words at you. And I won't look at your L when it's at A&W.

They didn't check me for a loop but did ask me how fast I ran and warned me that <= 13.99 I would need a helmet or get booted. I didn't need to worry the way I was driving I was lucky to hit a 14.

They were pretty cool however, I want to hit midnight madness again though this Friday might be spectator only if I come.

I think it's passenger must be licensed and you must run > 13.99 for either a passenger or a helmet, I think the 12.99 means a roll bar? but could be wrong. ( I'm a newbie at all this).

BTW Dr.D I would be the "non waving Red 00 in "the Club". Once you see my reaction times at the track you'll understand how an L could blow by me without a wave

How was the A&W 2KL & DR. D were you guys the only 2 there?

Gene

Poohbear, drink several cups of coffee first. I have seen you at least 4 times while in my new truck and even stuck my arm out the window at Lusby Sunoco, and you ingored/didn't see me. You rememeber I stopped you once on Catalina when I had my red 93? Well I upgraded to 01 Black. If they had made this thing in yellow you would have seen me. A couple of those times I could have pulled forward a few feet and we would have definitely met.
Anyway, howya doin'.

A&W is good. Lots of nice rods. We were the only 2 I saw and I was leaving when Brandon showed, but he was a little later than I expected. I'm going again This Wed. and I'm heading to Fox Run this Sat @ 6pm . There's supposed to be the same thing up there. Maybe you have a reason to cuise to Fox Run Sat. nite??

2kl, I talked to people here and they seem to agree that you should at least take a helmet so I working on getting one.

Don
