Wrecked truck. Need some suggestions.
Hey Rzk
Post some photos or e-mail them to me at selman@beachlink.com. I may be interested in buying your truck as is. It can work two ways If they dont total the truck you will get a check to fix it with, you keep the check ,I buy the truck, and you could end up with more money than it was worth before the wreck. Or they do total it and you buy it back ,then sell it to me for a little profit. Either way you to the good!
Let me khow, Johnny

Here is how we do it....I won't disclose the company but I am an insurance adjustor....here is how we calculate a total loss...take the actual cash value of the vehicle and multiply by .85. If the estimate is under that then it is ultimately repairable. In theory that is.....there are other ways to total a vehicle....but that is the most common. Unfortunately some vehicles just shouldn't be fixed and an adjustor can make that call but it is not very common. The way we determine what you pay for salvage is very much the same way. We take the actual cash value of the vehicle and deduct a certain percentage for salvage. The percentage for salvage varies greatly. Usually the standard is 15% but if your adjustor knows what he or she is looking at the may take up to 30% salvage value. Once again it is really their call, I will tell you this though EVERYTHING is negotiable. I mean EVERYTHING! If they low ball you on the value let them know the value, if you think they are keeping to much in salvage the get them to keep less. Well I don't know if this is of any help but I thought it might.
mark-441,
I only have 3 wheels. The left front wheel is toast.
doubleup,
thanks, for the calculation info. It should come in handy. Based on your calculation info, my truck is not going to be considered a total loss. Hmm, that's bad...
J Selman,
I have more pictures. They are pretty large though, ~1meg. If you want me to mail them to you, I will. I have about 8 pictures.
I hope this picture post works...

I guess your window was broken out on your driver's side 'eh? Do they not give a rat's *** that it rained and soaked the inside of the truck? Sure, add a few more grand to the damage via electrical failure and cleaning of the new moldy smell. Just what if they don't total it? You don't want to have to deal w/ this. That window should have been covered.
Also, from me just looking at those pictures that is NOT over 20k in damage. I'm not sure what is wrong underneath, but you should get quotes from multiple body shops if possible. Request a new adjuster if need be too.
2nd of all if a truck dropped a tire why aren't you going after the company's insurance who owned that truck on the construction site? Something like that shouldn't be taken w/ a grain of salt. I would have had the cops all over that one!

clontek,
I am glad that I had my seatbelts on. Even with the belts on, the bag feels like someone drop kicked you in the face. The explosive charge, the starch material, and the sound make it seem like a small bomb went off in the cab. Don't want to go through that again.
J Selman,
Have you seen the pictures yet? I have larger pictures if you need them. If I am able to sell the wreck, how quickly can you pick it up? I live in Chicago and there is no where for me to store this thing. I am sure the shop is going to charge me up the wazoo if I keep it there.
Other folks interested in truck parts,
If I can't sell the wreck as a whole, I would be interested in selling off the parts. Only problem is that I have no place to store this thing. I would be interested in hearing any suggestions.
Thanks
