No it wasn't the 8500 model, it was their 7500 model but it beat it hands down. I tested the detectors with some brand new
test equipment that we use to check out multimillion dollar radar systems. These tests the other guys are doing are so subjective
because it all about who and what direction they are pointing the feedhorn at.

I'm very sure I could get one of these detectors to outperform
a 55,000 dollar receiver that we use in several of are Airport
Surveillance radars if I wanted to but that is not the point.
I did these tests for me and my friends that way we would know that we bought the best machine available at the time to protect us.

Any test I read about on radar detectors are very subjective, someone is paying mucho dinero to have these test performed
and it isn't the Valentine 1. They do not even sell them retail because they do not need to, all you have to do is go to their website and they give you the phone number to Escort and dare
you to take them up on their offer of 30 days or your money back and you can compare it to any other radar detector.

Now that is why I put the V1 through all these tests, if it didn't
succeed flawlessy, I'm not paying $400.00, I would have send it back as soon as I found any weak points.

Sorry long winded but just trying to make a point, I don't think the
8500 was out yet or none of my friends or family had one at the time to test, I'm not saying the 8500 is not better but I could buy
a $40.00 detector and make it outperform the 8500 if the inventor of the $40.00 detector was me paying mucho dinero to perform these test.

I know your not questioning my credinitials, it would make you sick to know how much schooling I have received throughtout my life, my stomach gets upset when I think about it.

Thanks,
Terry

I have noticed those three horizontal lines when there is a voltage drop or spike on my V1.

ASDEMAN,

I believe the 8500 to be newer technology than the 7500. With your skill and ability it would really be great if you could get your hands on an 8500 and test it also. Then we would know if it is all hype. I understand what you are saying about the testing people. Ford did the same thng with the first test 99 Lightnings they gave out to the press. They had 4.11 rear gears not 3.55s.

Question

Where do you guys prefer to mount the Valentine, for temporary mounting purposes. Windshield or visor? I do not have a Valentine (yet).

Reason I ask is that the upper windshield window tint should reduce reception. So, it would seem logical to mount on the windshield and not the visor, unless the visor mount is low enough to evade the upper window tint.

Also,is the windshield mount unobtrusive and secure? Also, the windshield mount has to be high enough to utilize the look-back coverage.

Well i have a valentine one, got it when i got my lightning. and i have only gotten one ticket in the lightning and the V1 warned me about it. Now me being the smart person i'am was on the phone when it went off and i didnt pay attention to it. I would definately recommend the V1.

noelvm,

That would be the only way to prove it in my mind, I do think that
escort might have the same 30 day satisfaction clause or your money back. I could actually buy one and test, and if it really outperformed the V1 like the magazines and other testers say
then keep it.

Another thing I noticed about the V1 is the resale value is unbeleivable, I tried bidding on used ones before on some auctions and they always go for about 320 to 350. That is very amazing .

Now if I only had the time, we are flightchecking some new radar systems throughout the US right now so it might be a while before I can actually get to this scenario.

Stay Tuned,
Terry

Normally upgrading a V1 is about $250. New they are $400.
