Hesitation Under Load - Part 2

Well here we are again......the hesitation under heavy load or WOT is the issue here. There has been a previous post on this subject before but apparently nobody has drawn a conclusion to the problem as of yet.

I have had the problem since the vehicle was new and only have 1200 miles on the clock. The hesitation or split second shut down occurs under heavy acceleration or under WOT. It did this before wihout the chip and with the chip it seems more pronounced.

1. I do not think it is spark plug related as they are almost new but i could be wrong

2. Some have said before the Torque convertor may be locking up, however it does not feel like a tranny problem at all.

I would like to hear from anyone else having this problem or from anyone that has possibly resolved it

Thanks
Anthony

I'm guessing it's a 2001?
Mine has it also, at around 3000 RPM. I have yet to take it to the dealer for it. Everyones answer seems to be the lockup.

Indeed, appears to be only an issue with the 2001 models. It could be the lockup problem but it doesnt seem that way.

If you bring it to the dealer gimme an update

If you are refering to the boost loss, I've read a couple of threads on it. Someone said Ford put it in the computer systems between 2nd and 3rd gears to take some pressure off of the tranny. I also don't think any tuner has found a way around it yet.

I am almost positive it isn't boost loss because it happens for only a split second......could very well be though

I have disscussed this with 2 other 01 owners and it seems that it occurres with most if not all 2001 L's when you hit it either in the middle of 2nd and sometimes 1st gear. From a dead stop I do not get the hesitation but is in fact a given with the new trucks.Spoke to my brother who also has an 01 and he spoke with Jim @JDM and he says it has something to do with the larger mass air calibration map.Nothing to worry about though its a slit second "burp" that could be eliminated through extensive dyno-tuning.I'd leave it alone and consider it a thorn on a rose.

Well Im in there with you guys...my 01 does it as well!! I thought I had just gotten a bad one. When it does happen, a geo metro could probably take me!! Seems mine does it at a 2nd gear stomp,it will loose boost but generally clears up quickly. However it did this the other day and didnt stop until I shut the engine off and restarted!! If anyone takes your bolt in to the dealer, keep us posted on whats going on!

My 01 is the same, this topic has been kicked around for a while we need somebody from SVT to chime in here. Maybe if we mention the "99 Cobra"
screwup someone from SVT will make a statement.

I've pretty much posted this on most of the boards out there and have to yet receive an adequate response.

I've learned to live with it and am hoping that someone will post an answer to this that makes sense.

Of course all the answers make sense... in one way or another but they simply don't sound logical.

Has anyone tried to call SVT yet???

Mine has a Diablo chip but this was present before and after the chip was installed. The oddity of this, it doesn't seem to appear all the time under moderate or WOT.

The bummer about this is, there is no real way to pursue this. Only the SVT engineers can give us the answers. It 's strange that it is only happening on the 01s

Thumbs down

Mine does the same and it's an 00. It is really annoying. I do have the 90mm maf from the 2k1 though.

Well, I finally did it. I made an appt. to take it in. I hope they don't come back with the "cannot verify problem" BS! I've dreaded this long enough. It goes in next week. I'll let you know what I find out.

THX PFA you da man Hopefully i will not have to make excuses anymore as to why the truck burps a bit.

Anyway, it seems as if alot of people with 01 L's share the same problem. Hoepfully it is something simple but from the way it looks, ford engineers are probably going to be in on this one as so many have this "glitch"

Keep us updated!
