New Intercooler Installed
New Intercooler Installed
Got my new "leakproof" intercooler installed today. These things have a date etched on them for when they were made. Mine is dated March 26, 2001. Wonder where the hell its been for six months? It has a larger area than the old one so should allow more air thru and run faster. Probably not much thou.

I had the intercooler replaced a few weeks back at Bankston in Frisco. This is a power booster. I have not dynoed as yet. I would like to see what HP gains are generated. I feel a considerable difference in acceleration.
hey noel... did they change out any other parts? (O2, plugs, oil)
did you get to see the old intercooler?
how long did it take to get the parts?
how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?
can you scan the work order so i can have something to take with me to show the idiots at the dealership?
was your lower intake coated in oil?
what is the air speed velocity of a unladen swallow?
did they replace your blower?
did you do a wheelie when you left the dealership?
i threw a couple of easy questions in there.. take your time, this isn't a timed quiz. LOL
i'm taking mine in to be fixed in 3 weeks.. *sigh*
they won't look into ordering parts 'till i take the truck in.
they wouldn't listen to me when i tried to tell them the part number..
thanks!

The dealership I used has about a dozen intercoolers in stock. There is no reason to change the oil as nothing goes into the engine. I watched and provided a new set of plugs as I wanted tr6s which I gaped at 44. The old plugs didn't look bad but seven wer gaped at 44 and one at 35. He put them in for me. He did four trucks last Saturday. Took him about 45 minutes plus the plugs which are a lot easier with the intercooler off. If yours is leaking badly they should check the o2 sensors. Mine wasn't. Jerrods wasn't leaking badly and Bambinos wasn't leaking badly.
I got an unfilled out receipt because they didn't put all the parts and labor down. Said he'd make up a correct one and mail it to me. Cost me $50.00 on my premium extended warranty and I was told when they do the letter to us I will get a refund on the $50.00.
Yea my lower housing was coated with oil and I use Mobil one. They said its usually worse with non synthetic oil. Inspected blower vains and found no coating flaking off. Area behind throttle body is filty. Guess I will remove it and clean it myself.
