All true, but I was mainly referring to the "in stock trim" claims. I know, without a doubt, that Sal has waxxed his share of not only camaros, but you name its. As far as the camaro that spun through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, it takes an exceptional driver to take an M6 to the drag strip and do well. Tire spin is a problem for some, but the second to third shift is a real bitch. Thanks for your replies.
Hey Sal,
what's the current wait on your pulley and how safe is it for a daily driver.

Dan
I race my buddies LT1 all the time and loose.
But he's also spraying a 200 shot of juice so its kinda hard for me to keep up with a 11.80 when I'm only spraying 50 shot.
Maybe with the 100 shot I should be able to keep up with him no problem, hopefully beat him.
As far as stock camaro's go, without my juice there not any problem with my truck. 12.6 to 12.7 without juice.

When my truck was stock (and not broken in) I raced an LT1 C4 from a stop to about 90mph. I gave him about a 1/2 car jump and his front bumper was at my door when we shut down.
I raced a buddy's '99 LS1 Trans Am 6 speed (stock except for an airbox lid) from about a 10 mph hour roll when the Lightning was just chip/filtered (13.110@105.91 at the track). It was pretty much a dead even run up to about 90, when we stopped racing. I'm pretty sure that if we had continued he would have started pulling away.
With my current mods (JDM chip, JDM aluminum driveshaft, FRP single blade throttle body, JL ram air, JL Powerstack filter, '01 Lighting 90mm MAF, JDM lower blower pulley, JDM line valve mod, NGK TR6s) I raced an LT1 Firebird Formula with some kind of after market exhaust. We raced two times, both times I gave him a 1 car jump and WALKED past him easily. Both times he stopped racing at around 90mph (on my speedometer) and I was several car lengths ahead both times. A car load of kids in a Focus witnessed both kills and drove by hanging out the windows cheering.
Other than track encounters, those are the only 3 races I've had with F-bodies/Vettes where I know with certainty that the other car was racing. Do I fear LS1 F-bodies? Hell, yes. A lot of F-body owners are car people and have modified their cars. They're pretty close, but on average I think the LS1 cars are a little quicker than Lightnings.

I never lost to a chepy in stock trim! I took a LS1 00 Crapmaro, 69Big Block stingray convert, 01vett convert to 110mph. It had 6000 miles and it was a 6spd. Yesturday I took out a slightly moded C4. Killed it! Now I don't have the satisfaction of saying im stock when I hit them with a lightning bolt! Takes some of the fun out.
Have yet to race a chicken hawk or a grand national. Those are next on the HIT LIST!! My only loss on the street come way of nitrous on a 01 Mustang GT with 3.73 gears and K&N filter. I too plot my revenge on this car. Just a few more goodies and his n20 will not save him! he,he.

i don't know about anyone else, but i don't even race camaros or mustangs....most of them know better.......my favorite is when i pull up to a Boxster S or an M3 or a CLK55AMG and smoke em....that's when i smile the most...knowing that some idiot spend 2 or 3 times what i did and everyone on the street just witnessed a ford destroying his precious exotic or lux. vehichle.......lol....hahahahaha
I have a video of me "winning but losing" to a Camaro.
It was spraying off the line and had to shut down 3/4 down the track because of fuel delivery problems. I krept past him before the line.
SO I won, but only because he shut down

I have had only 1 encounter with a LS1. A very nice Camaro SS He had E\T streets\exhaust and not sure what else. The guys that were looking at along side of me were pointing at mods but I wouldn't have a clue.

The pic in the link is at my local 1\8 and it's right off the line. He had to play major catch-up and he did start realling me in at the very end. I won the race but he had the E\T and his MPH were a few more than me. If it had been a 1\4 he would have surely passed my right at the 1\8 mark. Later that night he ran a 8.0.
I have raced several LT1's and win by 2-3 truck lengths.
One thing about these L's once you learn to launch them they are wicked from a dead stop. Cutting 1.8's and 1.9 60' isn't a problem.
A bone stock T\A (with the nostrils) ran a 8.5!! and 2 stock LS1's that I have seen run there usually run in the 8.6's-8.8's with a good deal of wheel spin.
My best is a 8.12 and I am fairly consistent now in the low, low 8's.
