I have had a argument with 95 Saleen S351 over prices on a new 2001 Lightning. I figure if Saleen has seen where these Lightnings are being sold then many others from the area have also. My father wants to sell his '99 and buy a '01 Lightning. 95 Saleen says,"They are selling brand new here for about $27,000! Without any plans." I think "here" is Detroit, MI area. We will travel to MI area to obtain that $27K Lightning without any plans. The reason for this post. 95 Saleen S351 doesn't want/can't give me the name of the dealer who is selling their Lightnings for this price. I hope by offering a reward I can get some help. $100 to the first person who tells me where I can walk in the dealership and buy a new 2001 Lightning for $27K w/o any plans(this has to be in the continental US). I'll write a check and send it out after I am able to verify the price. email katerine@etoppers.com I will post where we bought the Lightning after I have bought it. I'm not against plans. I should have bought mine using the x-plan, but I had no idea what it was. I know now and will use it in the future. My father would rather buy a '01 L for $27K w/o any plans than buy a '01 on x-plan for around $28.8K. If I can get it cheaper with no plans than why buy with a plan. This deal has to be out there because I know 95 Saleen S351 wouldn't put his reputation on the line, or would he?

I just pointed someone in the right direction of that dealer yesterday (though im not sure he'll be willing to travel far just to save a a grand or so) ..so ur lil reward just might get you a response or two.

Yes easterbunny...I want to risk my reputation...by posting bogus stuff...because the rewards are so great. Someday I hoped of catching some gullible guy from Nashville and tricking him into thinking that I saw prices posted in car windows...that I actually didn't see...and the reward from that..makes it all worthwhile.

$27k does sound pretty nutty. I dont see how a dealer can make any money off a deal that low. I would think that dealer cost on a L would be higher than that especially if Xplan pricing is supposed to be below invoice. Hell, $27k is even lower than Aplan. If its true that would be a pretty sweet deal. Hope you guys luck out! If that deal cant be had just go with the Xplan. You guys know its not a crime to pay $28,800 for a 01 Lightning!

I am a small business owner of my word. What I say I will do I will do. Go ahead make fun of me. No one has come forward and no one will because you cannot buy a new '01 for $27K with no plans. If for some reason I am mistaken and 95 Saleen S351 is right then I will apolagize to everyone here on this board and especially Saleen for taking up everyone's time and for calling Saleen a liar. If no one comes forward I will assume that Saleen is a liar and should be treated as such.

 

$27,000 was probably with a-plan, all sorts of rebates, the college graduate credit and some buyer loyalty BS.

I don't doubt that he saw it though....and thats all he ever said. He never claimed he did or could get you one at $27,000....just that he saw the window sign....which he probably did.

read the link yourself. His post is the 3rd down. He posted 8-19-2001 10:28am. If he would have said he saw a sticker in the window I would have been suspicious. I could even take $27.5K because he said around, but anything more would be around $28K.
btw, his post has not been edited and I hope he does not plan to edit it.
