Tire Cost
I recently purchased my L and know in the future tires are going to be an issue. Has anyone found any internet deals on tires? What's the cheapest anyone has found? Has anyone ran anything but the F1's?

Seems fair to me to match.
Tirerack will mount and balance but wont do it free so why should Disc tire ?
The summary is that TireRack has the BEST prices and 2 Discount Tires I have been to will match thier prices. The only difference is you can talk to and see the dealer. You will still have to pay the same shipping and whatever Disc tire charges for Mounting and Balancing.
Or you can mail order the tires and then still have to pay someone local to mount and balance.

The store is in Corpus Christi TX. I was able to get this price with help of a fellow L owner (VetteEater)that got a similar deal at a store in Houston. He gave me a photocopy of the purchase ticket and I used that to negotiate the price. The price of $198 was for the tires only, with total price including mounting, lifetime balancing and new valve stems was $954 (approx). If I can scan the ticket, I'll post later and pass along the favor.

In answer to your second question several of us have tried the Toyo Proxes S/T in the stock size, and I believe we've all been pleased. I've got 12K on the Toyos so far, and I'm still happy with them. Price is a bit less than the F1's. I ended up at $865 for a set of four, including S&H, mounting and balancing.

There is a brand new tire on the scene...
I just discovered that the TireRACK is offering a brand new Sport Truck Tire that no one seems to know much about yet. It's by Bridgestone. It's a 285/50 HR18 which is 29.2 inches tall compared to 28.4 inches tall on the GY Eagle F1. It is an HR rated
tire which is rated for up to 135 mph. I think it looks like an exciting tire that has the same general profile as the 295/45 ZR18. It would be interesting to get some wear on a set of these tires to see how they perform and wear. I'm interested in longer wear than in tackiness for high performance racing. So this tire might be for some people and not for others.
Think I'm going to give it a try. I called Firestone/Bridgestone in Nashville, TN to get more information on the tire because it is so new that the TireRack has limited info on it. The guy I talked with said it's HR rated and the construction of the tire would indicate it should provide better than 40,000 miles of wear under "normal" usage. (Not racing conditions.)
