5.4 liter L Engine

Okay, experts. Can you tell me, outside of the supercharger, what is the difference betwen the L engine and a regular F-150 5.4 liter?

Thanks.

Cool

I think it's just the pistons that are different. Aside from the intake and such.

SEARCH!

Do a search. This has been covered several times. The search still works. Also try looking for information about the 99 Lightnings, they told all about them then.

The 5.4L Lightning motor is the exact same motor as the regular 5.4L with the exception of the lowered compression piston. Heads, cams, crank, and rods are all the same.

The supercharged version of the 5.4 is bundled with a different truck.

Talking difference

Lightning Boy

knows his 5.4 motor...

the only difference is the lightning has upgraded pistons which are forged aluminum, which give the truck a lower compression ratio, the spark plug gap is a bit smaller, other then that, there the same engine, internals anyway...

both have forged crank, and powered metal connecting rods.
