I live in Southern MD and am looking for a GOOD dealer that is familiar with doing L work. It's over an hour to Upper Marlboro where I bought the 2K Red and IMHO the minimal work I've had done has been shoddy at best.

I now have the door crack starting, 2 recalls to have looked at and the alignment done. (IC is okay so far @ 22K <da#@ my desk is made of metal! No wood in sight!>)

The clunk fix is apparently holding but the alignment that was supposedly done at the same time left me stranded on a road trip requiring the purchase of 2 new F1s at retail price (OUCH).

Basically I'd like a service manager who won't give me the runaround or the "no way it's warranty it must be your fault and we're not giving you a loaner", and that I do NOT have to call SVT to have them call the dealer to verify a well documented issue with this truck.

I don't know how far you are from Gaithersburg but I've got nothing but good things to say about Sheehy Ford.

I had a bunch of mods already and they replaced my IC without many problems.

What color is your L? I live in Lexington Park. Do you ever go across the bridge? I have a Red 00. I have met up with Thunderstruck at MIR before. We should try to get all the local L owners together to go to the track one night.

Sheehy Ford is on Route 355 at 901 North Frederick Ave. in Gaithersburg. Head north on I270 and exit at Montgomery Village Ave. I think there is only one way off.

Anyway get in the left hand lanes for a left turn at 355/North Frederick. Sheehy is about a quarter mile up on the right. You can't miss it. Right now they have about four Lightnings parked out front and I don't think they are selling well.

I bought my Lightning there and get it serviced. They seem okay to me. I have no mods. The service writer I like is called "J.D".

I should mention that when I was complaining about my twitchy steering before I proved them I needed new, lower control arms, JD just said that the Lighntings where like the Cobras and had twitchy steering because of the big tires and taut suspension. Right! He was semi-correct.

 

By the way, Sheehy says they service around 200-250 cars a day. So, they are kind of busy.

Drove right by Sheehy on that road trip I was stuck on, saw the 01 Ls out front too (felt the wheel pulling too but Mama wouldn't have it).

They're about 3 1/2 from Solomons though but I've heard some good things about them (might be worth the trip).

I've got a stock red 2000, daily driver to work at Pax River every day (after the day care drop off, REALLY need Wet Okoles!) so mines probably the least pristine in the area

The # of Ls in this area has jumped in the last year since I got mine (did you get that 2k that was at Prince Fredrick Ford or go to Waldorf?). There is one Red 2k on the base and a white and black 01 in the Ranch Club as well as a white 99/00 in White Plains and thats just the ones I see frequently.

Don't think I've seen you in the park though. Lemme know next time a MIR run is coming, I drive LOUSY but it's just for fun (been twice best time in the 13.97 range but I suck at RT and 60').

Yeah i bought the one that was at Prince Frederick ford. I work at IMD on PAX, there is also another L here. It is a red 2001. There are a lot of L's in the area, most other owners seem cool, they all wave to me. We should all get together one night at the A&W, they have a car show there on wednesday nights. It is in callaway about 10 minutes from PAX.

No, i've been to Koons Ford near Annapolis with the wife's Expy, don't waste your time going there. I bought mine at Darcar Ford in Lanham..

Lemme know, I don't think most of the L owners in our area are on the board. I get waves too but no "stop & chats". Did you check yours for the "clunk", "door crack", "IC Leak", and seat wear?

I bought mine from Ron Bortnick in 99. Check engine light came on right after I got it. The goobers there didn't know what to do except keep reseting the computer & say they didn't know. Took it to Prince Fredrick (Dorsey Gray) & had the problem fixed within days. Just my opinion. Where is the A&W located at? Do they have anything going on the weekends? Let me know if you guys would like to meet up sometime. I'm not too far away.

Dorsey had no problem working on mine. Only thing was I couldn't get a loaner because I didn't buy it from them . I don't know if it is still like that or not. If you do take it there ask for Steve he was really good when he fixed mine. Keep me posted on any get together that might happen. Thanks

 

Man am I glad to find you guys!! I usually go to SVTPerformance.com, or at least that's where I start. Name is Don and I own the 2 month old Black 01 in the Raunch Club. As I write this, the boy is at Bortnick for some warr. work and I'm racing around in this goofy looking Mitsubishi Montero SUV (simply ugly vehicle) . I brought up the IC and the clunk bolt and this "certified" SVT tech never heard of intercoolers leaking, and knows doodoo about the frontend problems. Mine has a buzzsaw vibration noise coming from the exhaust and a very audible "clunk/bang " sound coming from the fr. suspension. I informed him that there is a permanent fix for the clunk and if it happens again and I have to bring it back then I would show him what he needs to do. I almost wish I didn't bother with the extended war. 'cause now I can see what I'm dealing with. So,, anyway where do you guys all hide your Ls.? I've met the guy at Lowes with the 00 black, there's another red 00 in the Raunch club but he doesn't wave or anything since I got this 01 (used to have a red 93), so I only see those two, and there's a silver one at the Nuke plant (puke) where I am employed and underpaid. I'm going to Fox Run next weekend (Sat 9-1) around 6:00. I understand there's a bunch of street rods that meet up there and I want to check them out. But if I don't see any Ls then I' going right back home to watch the Bristol race. Either way I will now stay in touch. Maybe we can get MIR for Lightnings sometime. A guy here at work got the track for a Sat morning race (10-6) and I think it's from 9a to 2p cost 1,000.00. So 50 people @ 20.00 a pc. So good to see you guys are around.
